Unbelievable behavior! His "Misconduct" by being rude, abusive, and improper treatment of a mentally ill defendant. The defendant voluntarily entered treatment and the judge stated to him "Look at you sitting there in a turtle suit!" (suicide vest). He told him that the only reason he is taking meds is because he was in jail. Judges have NO RIGHT to• Justice system responses to people with mental illness should be minimized while ensuring that any interactions preserve health, well-being and dignity.
• No one should be subject to practices that can cause or worsen mental health symptoms.
He also stated that nobody should have gun rights except for him and law enforcement! Excuse me, but that sounds BIASED! Again, NOT supposed to be biased. NOTE: This defendant did not use a gun to commit a crime. He was carrying because he feared for his life. 2nd Amendment.

He went off when I refused to "waive time" (give up right to speedy trial. My client was abused by her 280 lb. BF but she got arrested. She can't work pending trial, and I need to wrap up the case to start new job. The DA, meanwhile, has not read the paperwork I gave them (where BF tells social worker he punched himself in the face, something about PTSD) so they need more time to consider lowering the charge to disturbing the peace. Judge went off yelling at me when I suggested we could agree to a reasonable DA continuance if they have trouble locating witnesses for trial (like they do in Orange County.) He got very upset. Not sure why. His courtroom had a light calendar. Kept threatening to send it to trial court (and if that happens, DA was saying they won't lower the charges.) So I agreed to "waive time." What ever.

Positive:
I have seen worst criminal judge's. I do not know if I will paper him or not. In his previous life, he was a public defender, however, he seems to be afraid of being papered by the Prosecution.

Negative: At one point during a hearing, I just wanted to ask the judge why are wearing a robe. Take it off, come down and seat next to the prosecutor and tell her what to do. It does not help for the Head Deputy District Attorney to be looking at him in a proceeding.
