Comments:
I can't believe the negative comments about Judge Tomlinson and can only attribute it to the fact that those who dislike her did not follow her rules and go to court prepared to discuss their case. By far the best Magistrate in the EDNY. Knowledgeble about the law and the cases before. Extremely effective in mediation. Do not have anything negative to say about her.

Judge Tomlinson is currently being investigated in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the Second Circuit Judiciary Council, and the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Comments:
I agree with most of the comments here. I have never seen anyone as unprepared as this magistrate. This is a shame to the justice system and maybe the main reason why she's still a magistrate. I feel sorry for those who have cases in front of her. What a shame.

Comments:
This judge was unprepared, and easily misguided by the defense attorneys, which was extremely troubling and discouraging.

Usually polite on the bench but no one is home upstairs. She is by far the dumbest Magistrate on the Bench. I can't believe some of the other complimentary comments unless their cases were simple and not uncomplicated for her to handle.

My recent experiences with Judge Tomlinson have all been positive. She's smart, prepared, appropriately business-like and displays no bias for either side.

Excellent, judge. Even tempered, fair, and decisive. "Gets it."

I have to post here, because I can't believe that the other raters are talking about the same Judge Tomlinson. She's the slowest jurist before whom I have ever had the misfortune to appear. She is incapable of issuing orders or decisions of any kind. Even stipulations which merely need to be "So Ordered" are never heard from again. Calls to her clerks will result in candid admissions that things have "fallen through the cracks." This woman has no business being on the bench.

Comments:
I appeared before Judge Tomlinson on several occasions. She is an exceptional jurist and seems to be a remarkably well accomplished person. She takes time to learn the details of each case and strives to be very fair. After just one year on the bench, it is safe to say she has the mettle and chops to be elevated to either a district judge or circuit judge position. Overall excellent.

Comments:
She is very rigid in her approach. She has made several poorly analyzed rulings. She has forgotten what it is like to be a lawyer in private practice.

Judge Tomlinson made her decisions timely though not quickly but her explanations were complete and valid. Too bad she was not the judge of trial because Wexler ignored all her pre-trial decisions and exposed himself as lazy at best, deceptive at worst, with regard to his refusal to make pre-trial decisions, saving decisions for trial where there could be no defence to negative decisions and where he did not have to justify his decisions. Tomlinson was found to be professional yet took her job seriously enough to do honest research and make understandable and respectful decisions. Wexler totally disrespected her pretrial decisions during his trial. It was a sad day for the court system.

A fine judge, and would likely make a fine District Judge in the future.

Fair, even tempered, courteous, hard working and thorough.

Fantastic judge. Even when her decisions go against me, I respect her intelligence, attention, cordiality and scholarship. If only there were more like her in EDNY.

She is very knowledgeable of the law, is willing to take the time to try to settle a case, and within a half hour of a case just assigned to her, knew the ins and outs of the case and could apply the law to the case to mediate the case. She also seems very nice.

Judge Tomlinson is the best thing to happen to the EDNY in years. She was the perfect selection to the bench.
