I'm a previous, once pro-se, litigant, and no doubt the judge knows who I am; throughout my lost cause of a case, with statute problems, lost discovery, and issues of both law and liability, Judge Restrepo's mediating contenance gently led to an 11th hour settlement, one where surprisingly all sides were totally satisfied with the outcome. The idea of justice squared in his court with the ideal upon which it has long been predicated, and he stands a stalwart steward of its best design.

Judge Restrepo is one of the most fair and down to earth jurists I have dealt with in 20 years. Negative comments posted on this site should be viewed with great skepticism. He is fair, unbiased and honest.

I could not disagree more with the positive comments made concerning Judge Luis Felipe Restrepo. My experiences with Judge Restrepo have not been pleasant. There is on the record proof of Judge Restrepo being unfair, biased and dishonest in a Civil Case. There is no way Judge Restrepo should be escalated to the next level of Judge. Unfair, biased and dishonest should never be associated with anyone who has the authority to weigh and balance the truth and justice.

I have appeared before Judge Restrepo on several occasions for settlement conferences in difficult cases. He is outstanding in every way. He is prepared and understands the legal issues. He is evenhanded, respectful and friendly with counsel. He is most remarkable in the respect and compassion he shows to litigants -- he does not forget that this is about them, and that it is a stressful process for them. I am always thrilled when we have a case assigned to Judge Restrepo.

Judge Restrepo is intelligent, hard working and fair. Anyuone facing court would do well to have Judge Restrepo presiding, including counsel for the defense and prosecution. He is ready and qualified for escalation to the next level of Judge.

I have had several matters before him on complex civil litigation. He greets counsel with hand extended, treats us as equals and is quite pragmatic and flexible in his approach. He was able to secure a settlement of a difficult case with his flexible approach and ability to listen to all sides and guide the process.

This Colombian-American gentleman is in my opinion a "system pawn" who accepted CJA court appointments while a defense attorney with the tacit understanding that his "guilty" clients should get a rock bottom "effortless" defense. Not surprisingly, Restrepo navigated his way into a slot on the bench... More evidence that in Philly all it takes is an agenda to be a member of the federal bench.
