Civil Litigation - Private

Comments:
[Redacted by Ed.] Not Ms. Coleman who tends to be abusive towards counsel, screaming, interrupting and subjecting her target to needless and witless sarcasm. Perhaps this is why she became a judge: The ability to bully others without repercussion as there is no accountability for misbehaving judges in the federal judiciary, something that Congress is now acting to remedy. She claims to be prepared but then speaks with certitude while showing herself to be wholly unaware of the case posture, continuing on as though nothing has happened when corrected. Ms. Coleman has her job for life but brings no honor to it, arrogating herself above the judicial cannons that require that judges act with patience and dignity towards all litigants and counsel with apparent glee.

If Barack Obama had to practice in front of Coleman, he would regret appointing her. She is painfully biased, rude, and couldn't care less about the law. If you're pro se, you're in luck -- you can write a summary judgment motion on a napkin that just says "I win," and she'd rule in your favor. If you're an attorney, get ready to be needlessly interrupted. Her favorite thing to do is get upset as soon as a lawyer starts speaking: "Counsel, COUNSEL!" I have a lot of respect for judges, regardless of whether or not they rule in my favor. Most judges make their decisions with some bias, but they are at least willing to consider the law and the facts before doing so. Not Coleman. As a result, she is one of the few for whom I have absolutely no respect. The fact that she is in the position she is in is just sad. Pray that you're never in front of her and if you have the misfortunate of being on a case over which she presides, pray that it ends quickly -- unless, of course, you're a criminal or pro se, in which case, it's your lucky break!
