Seems like a lot of you guys are just not cut out to be lawyers. The really smart people have no patience for idiots. He sounds fair from what I read. Smart too. No patience? That happens when 50% of the cases are frivolous or poorly argued. I wish I had gotten a different judge because my case has no merit. That wouldn't make him a bad judge for seeing through that and remanding it back to State though would it. I can not stand cry babies with my self analyzation skills.

This judge is an arrogant bully with no regard for his role as an impartial human element of justice. He is more interested in asserting power than administering effective justice. He harms both the public and those before him. He should be impeached for his blatant attempts to hinder justice, particularly with habeas corpus motions. He's a hall monitor.

I've been a litigator in state and federal courts for 37 years. Without question, Judge Anderson is the most offensive, laziest, most arrogant, insulting and imbalanced judge that I have ever had the misfortune to stand before. As other comments have suggested, if there is any chance of bailing out before this guy gets his fangs into you, seize the opportunity. Why has the CDCA attracted so many of these types? Judge Anderson deserves his ranking as one of the worst federal judges in the U.S.

In regard to medical marijuana: unfortunately, the federal courts do not recognize medical marijuana, unlike the state and county courts. Federal courts continue to see it as illegal. County probation accepts the medical marijuana prescription to the extent that, if there is a positive THC result, the individual would not be in violation. My opinion of Judge Percy Anderson is that he is by the book. There are some rulings where he could rule in favor, but if it's not written in stone, he will not rule. He heard a difficult case. In the beginning of the case, Judge Anderson made quick, swift rulings. He yelled at my attorneys on a few occasions. The bottom line is that he gets irritated by the circus antics of attorneys. My further observation of Judge Anderson is that you must know your stuff (cite case law, file correct paperwork, etc). Most of these attorney complaints are from those who are used to judges allowing them to blah blah blah -- and because Judge Anderson doesn't, it's a problem. Be straight and to the point. I sat and heard him on other cases, and as long as you know your stuff and treat him with respect, then you will have no issues with him. In other words, step your game up. If time frames are expedited, then follow it. It's work. He's not in every courtroom. Lastly, I've witnessed the expedited hearings, and seen the attorneys roll their eyes. But I got the opportunity to witness a fair side of him. He was very patient with the plaintiff with a speech impediment, and allowed him considerable time to testify that he understood the case.

I have appeared before hundreds of judges. Judge Anderson is the creepiest, dumbest, most biased, ignorant, egomaniacal and pompous judge I have ever been before. He truly is a disgrace to the federal bench. The only contribution that he could make to improve the federal judiciary would be to retire. The worst judge, bar none.

I have never posted about a judge before. After my experience with Judge Anderson, I found this site just because I wanted people to know about this wreck of a judge. Lo and behold . . . I found a group of attorneys with the same experience.

I have been a civil litigator for 20 years. I have been in front of hundreds of judges. I thought Judge Manny Real was the worst federal judge ever . . . maybe not. Judge Anderson is a piece of work. He is openly contemptuous and rude. He fires off crazy OSC orders just to pressure parties. He "spins" the facts to suit his purposes. He and Kim Jong-un should party together.

Anderson's forum is not a court of law; it is a show trial stage where defendants are not permitted to defend themselves against obviously unconstitutional charges. Aaron Sandusky is a political prisoner.
The PEOPLE of California went to the polls, and voted to explicitly allow medical marijuana. The people are not the property of the federal government, and when we vote to permit sick people to avail themselves of any means of relief, only a tyrant would stand in their way.

In a few more years, when the rest of the states have abandoned the insanity of the war on drugs, people like Anderson will be citied in history books as examples of agents of oppression masquerading as agents of justice. I wish him a long and miserable life, in the full knowledge of the contempt he has earned.

Yes, efficient. Mussolini made the trains run on time. No one likes any of his rulings. It is not for an incompetent judge to penalize attorneys whom he thinks are incompetent: it's like the kettle calling the pot black. No good lawyer would like a judge like this. Having prosecuted for the government in several of the district courts I find a tendency for Bush appointed judges to be pro-government and easy to lead. They do not educate themselves on the issues at hand nor do they review jurisdictional matters. Percy Anderson, Morison England & Clarence Thomas are prime examples of placement based on politics and not ability. All are having record number of cases presented and overturned on coram nobis review post Skilling that AUSA's were reluctant yet pressured to prosecute for political reasons. Prosecuting health care and anything to do with oil, gas or electrical power was to keep Texas and the Bush Buddies in power.

Judge Anderson fits President Obama's description of Kanye West, when he drunkenly rained on Taylor Swift's award: he's a jackass.

In July-August, 2011, the Los Angeles Daily Journal reported that his practice was to sit on magistrate judge's reports and recommendations to grant habeas petitions for five years: one petitionier died in prison after the magistrate judge recommended his release, and all others were denied. A complaint for judicial misconduct based on the egreriousness of his conduct is pending with the Ninth Circuit.

I see where he went to school, and that school demands well prepared files, I went there so I know, so don't be sloppy.

As long as I get a fair shake is all I care about...... judges are people, and I have met plenty of judges with not great personalities, but the goal is to have a good judge that will hear your side.

We had the misfortune of getting Judge Anderson after we removed a case from federal court. Plaintiffs didn't file a motion to remand. On the last day that a remand motion could be filed, and on 45 minutes notice, Judge Anderson demanded all parties attend a phone conference where he tried to persuade the plaintiff to make a remand motion (presumably orally) due to a small typo in the remand papers. Fortunatley for us, the plaintiff refused. A month or so later we were able to eventually settle the case and were awaiting the finalization of settlement documents from both sides. A pre-trial deadline for expert disclosure was coming up and both sides jointly asked Judge Anderson to defer the deadline for a couple of weeks while the settlement was finalized. He refused. In my experience, he runs the least friendly courtroom in Los Angeles and he likes it that way.
