Civil Litigation - Private

Rating:2.0
Comments:
A civil litigation/trial attorney with 40 years of experience commenting here. Woodlock was never fit to be appointed any type of judge let alone a federal judge. He is not particularly intelligent and has a vindictive dismissive nasty personality. His judicial opinions are not that well written. Having Woodlock assigned to your case is the worst possible assignment in the district. When you inform other attorneys that Woodlock was assigned to your case, the response is usually one of immediate sympathy.

Comments:
Despite clear and unequivocal evidence of Constitutional violations (including 1st, 4th, and 14th Amendment) and despite my attorney's lengthy catalogue (citing over twenty valid precedents), Judge Woodlock dismissed my case. Republican ideology (the rights of police are more important than those of the civilians they abuse) trumped jurisprudence (no play on words intended!). Shameful!

Judge Woodcock is an awful jurist more concerned with making sure he belittles both prosecution and defence too his level, the bottom. His opinions are based on emotion. He is the perfect demoncrat. Terrible man!

Comments:
Inherently corrupt, condescending and unsuitable to be a judicial officer. Judge Woodlock is morally bankrupt.

Comments:
Judge Woodlock's behavior is atrocious. How was this man raised? I think if his family could see him in action they would be embarrassed. Why treat people so badly? What end does it serve? He is an egomaniac of the first order.

Comments:
This judge is mean, vindictive, belittles others for no good reason and is always on a power trip. He will actually craft an opinion where the ends justify the means and in the process completely ignore the legal standard involved. He is not judicious at all. If he feels like he doesn't like a litigant or an attorney, he will find the law to justify his result.

Rating:3.8
Comments:
Condescending demeanor towards all counsel and tends to berate counsel even when he is blatantly wrong until counsel concedes. Very rarely prepared but ultimately at least attempts to make an attempt at an opinion rooted in case law and can sometimes actually get it very right.

Comments:
Borderline pathological procrastination issues. No appreciation for the litigants' needs for a prompt resolution of their disputes. Self-important.

Childish temperment. Distracts from the case. Self important and grandiose.

Woodlock, DJ : Is a pro corporate Judge. I find his rulings to be bias and his attitude less than acceptable..

Comments:
I do not have a good impression of Judge Woodlock. Based on his past decisions, he is pro-business; he is not for the little person. He dismissed my case in part because he said it was frivolous; it was not, but it would have seriously implicated George W. Bush, who graduated Yale just one year before Judge Woodlock did. Judge Woodlock has allowed his politics to influence his judicial judgment--I will be appealing his decision. Read also the comments below about his egomania.

Miserable disposition. Demeans parties, counsel and even other judges without cause. Makes intemperate remarks. Thinks people care about how important he thinks he is. Too bad; smart guy.

I was sworn in as a citizen of the United States along with 336 other people and their supporters - around 500 in total. Hon. Douglas P. Woodlock presided. He arrived 45 minutes late, and offered no explanation or apology. What could have been more important than this ceremony that 336 people have worked so hard to obtain? What kind of message does this give to these people? And we had to treat him respectfully by standing when he entered and left. I am still fuming at the rudeness and humiliation that I felt, for myself and for all those good people that he treated with such arrogance.

Bright but has a horrible temperament. Does the right thing and finds the law to support that result.

Comments:
Very impressed with himself. Mercurial and ready to pontificate on all issues despite a sometimes obvious lack of familiarity with the issues. Temperament in court is very knee-jerk on legal issues, but his opinions usually get the law right. Sometimes he lets cases get away from his control. Usually gives all lawyers before him a hard time. (Some speculate this is just a power trip.)
