Civil Litigation - Private

Rating:7.5
Comments:
A fine judge with a tremendous work ethic. Personable and makes real effort to have parties settle. At trial, perhaps a slight inclination to take some fact issues away from jury and decide them himself.

Alert, attentive, shrewd, personally decent. Excellent judge; too much chatter, though.

Mr. Comment #9780, Lawyers who are full time litigators should not be on their haunches blogging all day instead of, let me guess, communicating with their clients. They shouldn't be sending in an associate with no notice who, let me guess again, is really unfamilar with the status of the case, the client and the client's settlement wishes; to attend a settlement conference with settlement authority while, let me guess yet again, the client maybe doesn't even know settlement hearings have even been discussed? Maybe has never even discussed settlement with you at all? Sound familiar? Sound like a day in your life?

Judge Melancon is a breath of fresh air here in the Connecticut district where he is a visiting judge.

This is a small pond with some bad habits. Outside eyes have done some good. He has brought some much needed correction.

Bravo!

I've tried one case before him and I think he is a very good judge with a very large heart.
