Judge Hinton refused to order child support retroactive to the date of filing the motion for child support.

She also spent a lot of time bringing up the issue of a new spouse's income in a child support hearing.

She clearly did not want to enter the child support order.

Had to file a motion for reconsideration and pay for a court reporter to ensure that there was a clear record of the judge's bias and lack of knowledge of family law.

Judge Hinton is reflective of the bias in Contra Costa courts against fathers in family court.

She became visibly upset when she had to order a mother to pay child support, medical expenses, and childcare to the custodial father. She should check her bias at the door.

Judge Hinton knows criminal law and is very good on issues like restraining orders. On other issues - she has a distinct gender bias against men in family court. She is oribabky a very good criminal judge, but she did not know a thing about family law and did not know how to manage a family law calendar. She wanted to do the right thing, but her lack of knowledge and her gender bias made it hard to work with her in family court. A simple child support issue was continued for a year and a half because of poor calendar management issues.

This judge is the cream of the crop, rock solid in her responsibilities and ethics - and acts responsibly whether hearing a family law case or some other. She is skilled, wise, and fair. I would welcome the opportunity to have any matter before in the future. And I would appreciate her level of sophistication and wisdom in any other case I handle.

Judge Barbara Hinton is VERY biased towards men.

Guys, be very careful in her court...evidence takes a back-seat to her gender-based decision making.

This department always starts late - at least an hour late. Then the calendar never finishes on time, and the Judge takes too much time on the 20 minute calendar. Poor calendar management.

She is in Family Law, which is what I practice. She is intelligent, and what impressed me is she reads everything. And understands it. Then makes her decision. I would take anything in front of her.

She is one of the really good ones -- knowledgeable, caring, smart, and streetwise. She is a great choice as a judge.
