Does not follow the law. Or does not read the law. Either way, you cannot predict how she will rule, other than to get it wrong. She is just awful.

Was very pleasant and a nice person. However the worst judge I have ever seen. Never felt so victimized by a judge that clearly did not understand what she was even ruling on. Have never had such a terrible experience or dealing in the legal system. No words can express the unfair, biased approach this judge brought to the court room.

Judge Marquez and is very nice and pleasant personally. She is, however, incapable of understanding more complex issues in civil litigation. In our case, she developed an affinity for the other side and her rulings were one-sided to the point of being clear errors of law. During argument, it was apparent that she did not understand the legal issues. I will 170.6 her every time. I agree with the other negative comments and dispute one reviewer's statement about her knowledge of the rules of evidence. She allowed inadmissible hearsay evidence on a critical issue in the case as well as other evidentiary mistakes regarding party admissions.

Shockingly biased in favor of Hispanic plaintiff. There were no less than 5 major instances of improper commentary during trial and one-sided rulings, but the most egregious example involved her offering completely inappropriate commentary during jury instructions.

For any attorney practicing in Riverside County, Judge Marquez is a breath of fresh air. Her knowledge of the rules of evidence is superb. She allows attorneys to try cases without interference while at the same time controlling the pace of the trial and keeping out of line attorneys in check. Her temperament is amazing even in the face of attorneys who try her patience.
