Comments:
Judge Romero dismissed a case without looking at the information. the defendant had not completed his diversion as ordered and was released a year early. Classes that were ordered had not been completed either, this has made in a nightmare now in family court because the party now thinks they are "innocent" and says I falsely accused them of domestic violence and places our daughter in danger. I cannot blame this solely on the judge however, because the DA continued to drop the ball numerous times on their end. As a victim I was also not notified by the DA or my victims advocate that they were going to dismiss his charges.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comments:
In People v Mills an elderly nursery school teacher filed a worker's comp. claim because she was injured at work.
Romero felt she had committed criminal perjury when she testified at her civil deposition that she had not suffered any prior industrial accidents. Well, in 1997 she was involved in a minor car accident. No claim was ever filed. No medical treatment was received. Based on these facts Romero issued a felony arrest warrant and had the old lady arrested at her home at 5:00 A.M. Five police units present. Later a different judge dismissed the case.

Comments:
In the case I witnessed Judge Romero disregarded the unreliable and admittedly contradictory statements made by a police officer to render a guilty judgment against the defendant. The officers’ written complaint was factually opposite of his sworn statements in court and was the sole basis of the prosecutions’ case. Judge Romero, after questioning the officer from the bench and leading him to a different ‘recollection’ made a decision based on flawed testimony. In my opinion Judge Romero actions were not without prejudice.
