I understand he was recently demoted to Small Claims, but he is not even qualified for that. He lacks a basic understanding of Landlord/Tenant Law and Contract Law, but I guess what do you expect out of Loyola Law School.

49405-Brilliant and well-played; no kidding-kudo's to the LA family law department litigant's ingenuity; and also completely agree with the post. The "all caps" attorney seems disturbingly stunted, intellectually and mentally, and is trying way too hard and should work that hard, at trying to be a better attorney.

49403-JUDGE GEORGE BIRD is definitely one of the BETTER LASC judges, and much better, imo, than one of the worst LASC judges, who are family judges, including highly conflicted, DIANNA GOULD-SALTMAN and DIANNA GOULD-SALTMAN'S buddy, retired, Christine Byrd, along with conflicted judge/attorney cronies.

HE IS A TOUGH JUDGE AND GIVES BOTH PARTIES TOUGH LOVE. HE IS EXCELLENT AT GETTING THE TRUTH OUT OF EACH PARTY AND WILL DRILL DOWN AND MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE A FOOL IF YOU ARENT STRAIGHT WITH HIM. HE HAS BEEN SURPRISED AT HOW HEALTHCARE INSURANCE CARRIERS BREAK THE LAW EVERYTIME THEY PAY PROVIDERS- HE GOT THIS LAW RIGHT IMMEDIATELY - VERY SMART GUY FOR A JUDGE WHO HAS NO HEALTH LAW EXPERIENCE. HE WORKS HIS BOTTOM OFF BY COMING TO COURT AT 7AM AND READING AND PREPARING FOR THE DAILY TRIALS. HE WILL NOT TAKE CRAP FROM ANYONE. THE ONLY REAL NEGATIVE I SEE WITH HIM IS HIS MINUITE ORDERS. I THINK HE IS FAIR UNBIASED AND DOES HAVE THE CORRECT INTENTIONS AS A JUDGE SHOULD- A FAIR TRIAL AND A CORRECT RULING. MAKE SURE YOU REQUEST THAT HE WRITES A CLEAR DECISION OF THE HOW AND WHY BEFORE HE TAKES THE CASE UNDER SUBMISSION SO YOU WILL HAVE WHAT TO DISCUSS IN THE FOLLOWING CASE WITH HIM AND ADDRESS THOSE ISSUES IF YOU FEEL HE GOT IT WRONG, OR YOU CAN FIX YOUR COMPLAINT AND ARGUMENT IN THE FUTURE IF YOU FEEL HE GOT IT RIGHT!

As soon as it was my turn, this Judge’s eyes turned pitch black, glowed, and he looked like he was going to explode as he stared at me as if he wanted to kill me. I was respectful of the court the entire two hours I sat there waiting my turn and was dressed in clean clothing of neutral colors that covered everything besides collar bone and lower arms. I wrote several pages of facts in my statement for an objection I submitted for a situation I felt was grossly unfair, especially during a shortage of attorneys for my specific case, where the attorney who counseled me failed to disclose specific facts about procedures, and where I even tried to be as fair as possible to opposing counsel on all matters presented to show respect and class; and yet he still scolded me, literally talking at me through his teeth as his eyes pierced through my head, all due to HIS random assumption that I ‘better not think I am going to get what I want in his court’. All I had said to him prior to him insulting me was a calm dictation of a message from opposing counsel that they emailed me that morning as to why they could not show up to court that day. I do not know this man and have never heard of him. His personality literally flipped 180 degrees on me. One of the creepier experiences in my life. I strongly think this guy has some occult involvement or is spiritually compromised.

My experience with him has so far been in the context of CMC hearings. He is very demanding in that 1) only trial counsel should appear for the CMC; and 2) if it is NOT trial counsel that the associate or appearance counsel have a very deep and detailed knowledge of the case. If you don't know your case well for the CMC be prepared for a tongue lashing or worse. I would suggest that counsel only present detailed CMC statements to him. Also, very strict on setting cases for trial within on year of filing. That said, I saw him handle a complex motion hearing giving both sides a fair shake on a complex discovery issue.

I just read all of the reviews of this fool. I agree totally as to the negatives. He is now in Santa Monica Ct. House. One nasty POS. He has no empathy as to the elderly who are sick and hospitalized. Think that they should appear in court even if they lost the ability to walk. What a total jerk. He should be demoted to picking up used needles on the street in front of the court house if he is so desperate for a city pay check. Pathetic!!

This George Bird was the most incompetent judge ever seen in Torrance. His rumored infidelity to his wife Karen preceded her mysterious death.

He was despised in Palos Verdes Estates. He lied and lied to everyone. Voters were ecstatic when he left.

This Judge is the classic example of a person with a serious case of Robitus. He is condensing to defendants and their attorneys. He is nothing but a bully with a black rob. He has no temperament to hold such a position He is definitely not patient. He is definitely biased and disrespectful towards the defense bar.

If your case is assigned to him, don't be afraid to 170.6. The man needs to be disrobed.

The only positive thing about Judge Bird is that he is on the bench at 8:30am sharp. Otherwise, he mocks and questions defense counsel on proposed offers, attempts to bully defense counsel in accepting offers by not permitting or questioning pre-trial continuances. I won't say he is pro prosecution, but he has a condescending temperament toward counsel and defendants. Save yourself and your client, 170.6 him!

He is a racist and is bias towards people of color. He has displayed that he is willing to overlook the law and incorporate his own justice. Since being a previous defense attorney he is willing to show others that he is on board to convict those of color or give unfair treatment to continue to abuse his power to convict people of color.
