Great judge. Has ruled against me - and I'm still okay with it. Judge Bendix listens, considers argument of counsel, requests additional briefing when she feels she needs more, pulls the cases cited and reads them herself. Tries to do the right thing -couldn't get a better judge. When she has ruled against me, I still understand why, and have an explanation I can take to my client.

I was an insurance representative before Judge Bendix. She was working as the Mandatory Settlement Conference judge in our case. Judge Bendix is a tough but fair judge; she was exactly what we needed to get our case settled (which it did) and much of the credit goes to her. If I found myself before her in the future I would be confident of getting just treatment.

Participated in mediation with the judge and I agree with other commenters that she's a bully. First off, she goes off on tangents and wastes time by telling stories about her personal life that have nothing to do with the case. She accused me of lying and said that our case was worth nothing. then to boot she got the facts wrong.

Had Judge Bendix in a MSC setting and she was the biggest bully on the block. She ended up attacking my client in her chambers by accusing him of being a fraudster. Case did not settle at MSC and went to trial one week later. The bench trial ruled for my client and the opposing side never accused my client of committing fraud, etc. She is simply a bully.

Judge Bendix is a very intelligent, learned, and overall decent person, but she has some issues. She is quite insecure, and has a tendency to be offended by people disagreeing with her, which is not a very good quality for a judge, particularly a settlement judge. She also insists on doing things "her way", which is not always the best way to do things.

She is a superb judge. She is perhaps one of the best judges at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles. She is fair and impartial, and that's all that we can ask of our judges.

This is a very hard-working, knowledgeable judge. In a recent MSC, my opponent selected her as our judge. It was evident that she saw both sides of the case and that she had a very good grasp of the practical issues of a client like ours, who is trying to survive the current economic waves as a small business/employer surfing through the tsunami of employment regulations. Her demeanor was great and my client was also impressed. She was knowledgeable, fair, extraordinarily committed and very effective.

It is unfortunate that Judge Bendix is retiring. She is a good judge to appear before for attorneys who follow the rules and expect other parties to do the same. She does not accept excuses lightly and will not coddle an incompetent opposing counsel.

I settled a large case with Judge Bendix and she did an excellent job. I found her to be a very good trial judge albeit at times a bit unfocused and prone to go off on a tangent. However, I did not find it so much of a problem that I would not be willing to preside over a case again. Excellent settlement judge.

Very nice in general. Seemed to be easily distracted by irrelevancies and finding issues on her own with which she would bedevil lawyers. Wanted to talk settlement at all times, even if I, as the lawyer appearing before her, had no authority to discuss such matters. Very uncomfortable. "Confusing" is a good comment.

I agree with the comments about being a bully. One minute your arguing assertively for your client, the next minute you are being screamed at from the bench. Very confusing.

Not very pleasant. Actually, she is a bully - at least to me and my client.
