I have to say this is one of the most thoughtful judges I have been in front of. I did not do a trial, but I had a tough case for a wonderful man, who had twice been caught growing and selling marijuana - in college, then when his kids were about to go to college.
This judge worked with me, roundtabled one of our issues with other judges to try to do something to help my client. I am forever impressed and happy to walk in his courtroom.

It is such a pleasure to have a judge whose courtroom is opened at 8:30 AM,who takes the bench without delay... but most impressive to me, is that Judge Sanora actually READS what I file, researches, questions, even lets me know he discussed interesting issues I have raised with other judges. Although this may sound like the norm -- I have learned the sad way, it is NOT. Countless times I appear on a motion to watch a judge read my papers for the first time, while I am standing before him.
I am impressed in everyway an attorney can be impressed with a judicial officer by Judge Sanora. Not just my case, but the cases I have observed in his courtroom. More like this man would be a fine improvement.

Judge Sanora was standing in for the usual Judge in Dept 3. My client had been told if they enrolled in Domestic Violence classes (even though we were just at pre-trial) the Protective Order would be modified (at the victim's request) from a complete stay away to a peaceful conduct only order. Sanora would not even let me state the reasons and would not even let the victim who was in court, address the issue. He just kept repeating "not while the case is pending" even though the law is clear that these orders are to be issued where there is a likelihood of future violence, not because of past incidents.
He totally lacks judicial temperament and i am thankful that he is not the Judge for the remainder of my case.

A former (private) defense attorney. Been around a while. Capable of granting a 1538.5 motion - a rarity, these days. Bad on bail. Good on sentencing. Good sense of humor most of the time - sometimes moody. A good judge.
