What others have said about Hon. Gail A. Andler

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comment #: CA5315
Irrational judge. To be dinged in all future cases. Has no explanation for the rulings she makes. Picks favorites, and then just simply rules in that party's favor without any comment as to why. Law and facts are to be disregarded in this courtroom. Spend your energy becoming a "friend" of this judge if you want any success there.

Here's to hoping she will take her 20 years on the bench and let someone else do the judging now. Surely someplace like JAMS has an opening. Rude, impatient and spiteful are the three adjectives that first come to mind.

Comment #: CA5253
One of best judges, lets you try your case without questioning your witnesses, stays out of it until there is an objection. Really knows the evidence code. I find her pleasant, smart, balanced. No hesitation at all bringing a plaintiffs case to her.

The other comments make absolutely no sense to me. I've appeared in front of many OCSC judges, and IMO Judge Andler is the best or one of the best (certainly top three) judges in OC. She is very smart, exceptionally well prepared, and the only times I've seen her get a bit curt with counsel is when they have either been unprepared or unprofessional. Outstanding judge.

I agree with the negative comments previously posted. Before I started dinging her, I found her to be frequently rude and demeaning to counsel, and lacking important knowledge both as to the law and as to the practical effect of her rulings. She doesn't seem to understand or care about the demands upon civil litigators. Her court clerk is just as bad. She is to be avoided.

Comment #: CA4944
She is a horrid, pompous judge, who should be avoided.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA4891
She picks a favorite early in any case and then stays with them, doing everything that party asks of her. She is generally lacking in intellect, and short-tempered, which must be the worst combo of traits that a judge could have.

Comment #: CA4812
This judge is driven by emotion; forget the facts.

Comment #: CA4682
Female lawyers should beware Judge Andler. She is obnoxious to women in general, and seems to be often opposed to whatever they have said in court (which is curious for a female judge). Furthermore, she is highly likely to rule for the most politically connected litigant -- to the point that it appears that she is trying for higher office, or maybe for a JAMs position where the richest litigant is the best client. Solo practitioners should ding her.

Comment #: CA3948
This judge not only accused me of not knowing the California Rules of Court, when in fact she was unaware of the rule in question, but did so in a rude and demeaning manner.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA3775
Discourteous and impatient with new attorneys.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA3543
Rude, slow and opinionated

Comment #: CA3072
rude, short tempered and defendant oriented, far too much focus on rigid rules of procedure than fairness

Comment #: CA1334
Judge Andler has a slow learning curve on complex matters.
