Comments:
I'm shocked that Judge Wachob, knowing my case involves discrimination and harm based on sexism would be 100% insensitive and harsh, making a point of showing as much abuse toward me as possible. Judge Wachob has not been fair or impartial. He has treated me in a very demeaning and despicable manner, acting more like an angry and aggressive opponent than a judge.

Comments:
Judge Wachob refused to read the pleadings or do anything other than make dictatorial edicts unrelated to any relevant facts or laws. Judge Wachob's bias and ego get the better of him, and he leaves a trail of victims in his egotistical wake because it is more important to him to knock you down and watch you bleed than to be fair or just.

There's a reason Placer County Superior Court has such a bad reputation. If you can file your case anywhere else, do so. Judge Wachob is a hateful, biased person who takes great pleasure in harming those he hates. He has no integrity. He'll take you down and trash your case with pleasure. His bias is huge and bigger than his hatred. The law means nothing to him if he can figure out a way to trash you. Shameful.

A Judge who will make you appreciate your most hated judge. Arrogant? Epically. Unintelligent? No. ignorant of the law? Winner! 170.6 was drafted to give reprieve from this jackass. You have notice. Accept the Commissioner or PJ: save your clients' time and money for another.

Comments:
Judge Wachob is a pompous man who sadly is almost as bright as he thinks he is. He lets lawyers play games, then punishes those who follow his orders. Local lawyers know to avoid him, unless they have a bad case in which they love him because he is unpredictable. I think 170.6 is the best option, as Placer County has amazing jurists on the bench. Just not this one.

Wachob is part of the good old boy network in Placer County. Great if you're a friend or colleague, horrible if you're from out of town.

Comments:
He is a typical judge, insensitive to the plight of others. I'm from out of town, trying a large case in Placer County. Judge Wachob is handling all the ex parte matters. Judge Wachob refuses to let any attorney appear by telephone at an ex parte hearing; your physical appearance is mandatory. This is true even though you do not get to make oral argument at ex parte hearings -- all of the decisions are made by the judge in chambers without the attorneys present. Add to this the fact that Placer County does not accept filings by fax, and what you have is a complete denial of due process for your client unless you are willing to pay over a thousand bucks to fly to the courthouse so that you can "personally deliver" your opposition papers. They won't accept anything if you try to have a messenger service hand-deliver it. Placer County is a "good ol' boy" venue, big time.

Comments:
The Placer County bench has not grown past its semi-rural mountain and foothill roots. If your largest urbanized areas are Roseville, Auburn, and Truckee, your bench is going to reflect the sophistication (or lack of it) of the local bar. The problem with even big-city Superior Courts is the overwhelming presence of prior solos and small-firm practitioners, infused with an assortment of former prosecutors. This does not add up to legal sophistication, legal scholarship, insight, or any of the other attributes we hope will be present in our judges. My repeated experience in Placer County is best reflected by my several experiences with this judge: he is quickly overwhelmed by commercial complexity, can readily be misled by analytically easy ways out, and cannot be depended on to dispense justice beyond the most basic axioms. You'd never know that Placer County is a suburban county of greater Sacramento, a metro area of 2.2 million. For all of the sophistication of its bench, Placer County might as well be Alpine County. And with this inadequacy goes the chief characteristic of most overwhelmed people with a little power: arrogance unsupported by ability.

Over last 10 years, Judge Wachob has heard MSJ's, conducted MSC's and handled trial matters in many construction cases. He is always prepared, and committed to following the law. He controls his courtroom well and grasps the issues immediately.
