In San Diego GALLAGHER optimizes what a judge with no B---S is. He can't make honest or lawful rulings without worrying how the prosecutor's office while challenge him. It's a shame because he use to be a man of honor, now he's barely a man at all. Grow some B---S GAALLAGHER or move to another State to find them again, but stop letting the S.D. Prosecutor's office make you a coward.

He was a great judge when he first hit the bench. He wasn't beholden to prosecutors like most other judges who run their campaigns on "Law Enforcement' Choice" slogans. But then he made a pro-defense ruling on discovery in a major DUI cased, and the prosecutors punished him. They issued blanket challenges against him, and so he had to be moved to drug court, which he despised. He learned his lesson. After a year in what he called "Kumbaya court", he went back to the criminal bench, a mere shell of what he had once been. He was no longer independent. He now knows that if he goes against the prosecution, he will be blanket challenged and sent back to some dark hole. Essentially, the prosecutors castrated him. Too bad he can't stand up, but that's san diego.

My experience with Judge Gallagher was positive. We appeared for multiple hearings before him and he always remembered the status of the case. He can be a bit brash at times, but never disrespectful. Not afraid to bring down the hammer in discovery disputes when warranted.

Judge Gallagher is a good Irish democrat, but he came out of Bunny Dumbanus's law cave, and he isn't afraid to show his old prosecutor buddies that he is still one of the guys. He needs to learn how to relax.

Another obviously biased and uniformed judge when it comes to medical marijuana cases. He needs to be relieved from further cases involving medical marijuana or risk having them all overturned on appeal.

It was unbelievable to see and hear this judge's biased rant about his disdain for California's medical marijuana laws. It became abundantly clear that this judge will not uphold laws he does not personally agree with. Hard to believe this judge ever hears a case impartially.

I've appeared before Judge Gallagher in both civil and criminal matters. He is very result-oriented. He keeps his eye on the ball and doesn't lose sight of the big picture. This may be why he's had challenges from the prosecution bar. He isn't the second prosecutor in the room, which is what many of the judges are. Great overbearing East coast personality. A caring, warm and considerate human being!

Oh, boo hoo, little prosecutor below. This is one judge that isn't scared of applying the law of the State of California, instead the law of ignorance of most of the little mini misdemeanor prosecutors who are used to getting their way from scaredy car judges. Heis decent, fair and intelligent. He was a felony DA for many years, and had the support of the prosecution and defense alike, which means he was MEANT for the bench. That the itsy bitsy little misdemeanor prosecutor below whines of unfairness only serves to support that he is in fact - fair.

Speaking only to DUIs - if you're a defense attorney, then this is your guy. His open hostility and disrespect for prosecutors in DUI cases is legendary. His muzzling of prosecution experts is well known. He refusal to acknowledge the body of medical and scientific evidence re: impairment is astounding. But worst - his visual display of little more than contempt, ridicule and dismissal of prosecutors and the People's witnesses is well documented. This guy should be sent to family law, and then I would pity the attorneys there.
