Interesting how similar the other glowing comments are on this judge, most around the same time too. I wonder how many litigants actually know a judge's age?
I was a Plaintiff who had the misfortune of being assigned to this judges court.
I have been before a number of judges before who had their quirks, but this is the first one I would consider to be incompetent.
The statutes for my case were somewhat complex and Runston asked very few questions, so I had no idea what his line of thinking was
The evidence I presented was detailed and overwhelming. The Defendant had NO defense and actually ADMITTED HIS GUILT. After all this, Runston basically declared I was lying and dropped the case.
Attorneys who I have since discussed this case with have stated they found his decision to be "unbelievable" and "somewhat disturbing".
Whether Runston had his own agenda, a prejudice against me or the law I was there to enforce or had more nefarious reasons, I do not know.
I do know that I would never allow him to judge a dog show let alone try one of my cases again.

this man is honorable and showed willingness to listen even though i was a pro se litigant he listen to both sides and ruled in my favor because the facts and law supported my postion it will be a sad day for justice when we lose this honorable man

I just spent most of the month as a juror on a case with Judge Maino. I found him top be even handed, very gentlemanly, compassionate, and very able to keep the case moving. I had nothing but admiration for his manner and conduct.

Extraordinary judge. Has a very upbeat, relaxed demeanor and a very sharp mind. Asked intelligent questions to witnesses and about evidence. Put each piece of evidence together like a jigsaw puzzle to figure out what really happened. He neither looks or acts his age (74).....just wish he could spend another 30+ years on the bench. San Diego is very fortunate for his past and future service to this county.
