This judge is an insult to all women. He isn't adequately punishing the perpetrator for the crimes committed. This should be a crime that one should have to pay for and truly understand the consequences of his actions. If he wasn't an american male athlete, he definitely would have gotten a longer sentence. This judge clearly has very poor judgment. I am outraged and disgraced this actually happened. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD??? SOMEONE FIX THIS PLEASE NOW!!!!!

Aaron Person, I am disgusted to call you Honorable as your title requires. If you cannot create a fair and unbiased judgement, you should excuse yourself from this case. Lady Liberty wears a blindfold for a reason, so should you when you sit in that courtroom. Your judgement compromised your integrity which questions all the cases you have convened. Everybody's outrage is justifiable because you are incapable of doing the job that you are being paid for. You have singlehandedly tarnished this country's judicial system. I hope your peer conduct an investigation on all your cases and find you guilty so you could serve a jail sentence with your buddy Brock Turner.

I am shocked that you would make a ruling with solely the thought of the Stanford swimming rapist in mind. Six months is all the time this criminal gets for violently forcing himself upon a woman. What kind of man are you to think so little of a woman so brutally attacked? You went easy on this rapist because it was his first offense. Does that mean every male gets one rape under his belt before they need worry legally? What kind of insanity is this? As a Stanford alumnus, you have damaged the university's reputation as much as the rapist, Brock Turner. You should be ashamed.

This judge has done a disservice to the American judicial system and sent a very disturbing message to college kids everywhere...it is okay to be violent with women as long as you are an athlete! Violent rape is a CRIME and those who do it should be PUNISHED!! Six months is nothing...not even a slap on the wrist. Brock was a predator looking for prey....he will do it again! The Judge should be removed for failing to protect the citizens of California or where ever Brock Turner decides to live. Our children should be protected from him, he should be behind bars for a long time. The judge was more worried about the guilty than about the victim of the crime. The victim had to re-live this horror for a full year, and Brock get 6 months in jail...most likely 3 months with good behavior. this judge should be removed. This sentence is an outrage!!

It is an absolute disgrace that this fraud has the audacity to run for reelection, claiming to uphold the justice system. Aaron Persky is not the problem. He is merely one of many who perpetuates virulent sexual violence, absolving perpetrators of blame, remorse, and consequences. His lenient 6 month sentence on white, hetero-male Brock Allen Turner makes me ashamed to call myself an American, because if being American means having leaders who callously disregard the needs of a community and of victims in favor of privileged white boys, then I do not know what we preach and what we are fighting for.

Horrible sentencing in the most recent rape case. The law and sentence should not be vindictive, but it should be just. What are we doing? Where are our priorities? If we allow sentencing of a rape crime to match that of someone committing petty theft what does that say about us? This young man stole something from this young woman that she will have to live with for the rest of her life. I realize he is young and stupid, but there are consequences for being stupid and the law should have been just in this case and the judge used better discretion. My apologies young lady. We should have been much better. Watch out folks, this great jurist is probably on Trump's short list.

Judge Persky's wrist-slap of a young middle-class white man convicted of three counts of felony sexual assault--including rape of an unconscious person--is a slap in the face to the victim and the community. In sentencing, Judge Persky made excuse after excuse for the felon: he had no prior convictions, he was drunk at the time, etc. In other words: if you're a young white man from a sufficiently privileged background, and drank so much you can't even remember what you did or who you did it too, you can commit brutal rape and be treated like a shoplifter.
The young criminal in question may not be a danger to the community, as Judge Persky said. I would certainly argue that Judge Persky himself is a danger to the community, especially its female members.

Not only did Judge Aaron Persky fail the victim in the Brock Turner case by handing down a glaringly insufficient sentence, but he also disgraced the rule of law by recklessly contributing to the negative perception of the US legal system. In 1960, respected Judge Irving R. Kaufman wrote, “If people are continually shocked by sentences they regard as too lenient or by the granting of probation and parole without selectivity, they begin to believe that the criminal law has failed them and that there is a cleavage between their moral code and the law. The inevitable result is a decrease in public confidence in and reliance on the law.” (The Atlantic Monthly; January, 1960; Sentencing: The Judge's Problem)

For this the rapist gets 6 months. In the year 2016. In the United States of America.

This ruling was disgusting and stomach churning. Because far too many times women are told to brush if off, told what's the point no one will believe you or, yeah go ahead and do it but nothing will come of it.

I call into question this judge's objectivity in handing down non-sentence on a client found guilty by a jury of his peers on 3 counts of sexual assault, specifically Defendant Brock Turner. In as few as three months this man will be released back into the public and will likely be a repeat offender due to Judge Persky giving him carte blanche. I can only hope the voters in his district are not fooled, and do not re-elect him. He will release a menace, and as such should not be supported by his constituency. The defendant was found to be a criminal by a jury, and should have received a sentence commensurate with his crimes. What a travesty.

Inappropriate comments on the bench: "a prison sentence would have a severe impact on him (Brock Turner)" in relation to why this convicted criminal would serve such a short sentence. Even if it were true, that is a reason to progressively seek change to a system and not unfair preference to yet another white male of priviledge who had a trial, was well represented, and found unanimously guilty by a jury.

I had not followed this case until the verdict was rendered, and the two opposing letters were publicized. In an embarrassing and outrageous miscarriage of justice, Judge Persky has studiously overlooked -- or wholly ignored -- the salient, undisputed facts of the case. Instead, he blindly and mistakenly emphasized the impact of incarceration on this criminal defendant. In imposing a very lightweight six month sentence, Judge Persky has essentially condoned the defendant's brutal, misogynistic, and illegal conduct. He has also sent an important -- yet ignorant -- message that it's apparently OK to rape a woman if she drank too much alcohol at the time in question. Please relegate this "legal dinosaur" to the unemployment office, as he does not deserve to hold this important judge for which he is eminently unqualified.

Most recently, he overstepped his boundaries by giving a man found guilty of raping an unconscious woman six months in county jail, instead of the minimum of two years in prison. A man convicted of three felonies for raping an unconscious woman should under no circumstances receive a very short jail sentence. Clearly, this white, male, Stanford alum athlete failed to adequately do his job, instead caring for another white, male, Stanford athlete more than the woman he raped. A minimum sentencing of two years should not be waived because the rapist's friends said he was of good character. Men of good character do not rape other men. This man is a continuing threat to women in the community, as he has shown no remorse and accepted no responsibility for raping another person. I can't imagine anything worse than a stranger -- no, anyone -- being INSIDE ME without my permission. Our society, thankfully, recognizes such an unconscionable breach as a felony. Convicted felons deserve just punishment. I say this as someone who strongly believes in prisoner rights, works in prisoner law, and has volunteered with the Innocence Project. Mitigating factors are real and should matter. There are people serving life in prison for crimes committed after childhoods they were lucky to survive, where they were sexually abused by a caregiver or introduced to drugs or a pimp by a parent or raised without love in poverty and squalor. There are tough breaks in life, and there are true mitigating factors. Having a supportive, loving family? Being able to swim fast? Having the good fortune of being able to attend a great college? Not living in poverty? Being white? NOT mitigating factors. Sexual assault is a serious felony. Someone convicted of sexual assault -- someone who was well-educated and had every opportunity in life -- does not deserve the break this judge gave him. A slap on his wrist is a slap in the face to the brave young woman who needed help getting home one night but instead was stripped and touched and fingered on the ground behind a dumpster while she was unconscious. A six-month sentence minimizes the seriousness, the horror, of sexual assault. It sends a dangerous message that molesting someone, touching someone who can't say No -- violating the human rights of a female person -- is not that big a deal. It devalues women. It is the definition of injustice. And yes, whether our society can accept it or not, white privilege and racism are real and still exist. So many prisoners are serving decades for less serious crimes. I do believe in punishment, but I believe in FAIR punishment. The sentence in this case does not fit the crime.

I find it absolutely repulsive that after a defendant was found unanimously guilty by the jury in a case Judge Persky presided over for three felony counts, that he worked against the evidence to further protect the criminal, rather than the defendant. I refuse to designate him with the title of "honorable" and I hope that the Santa Clara County Court will heed the bad press they are getting from Persky's unjust, biased, tone-deaf decision and remove him from his position. To give a rapist, one who based on evidence shown in court seems to be psychologically disturbed and ripe for a second offense a slap on the wrist is not only irresponsible, but dangerous, and makes Persky complicit in the college sexual assault crisis.

Judge Aaron Persky violated the rule of law by focussing on the FELON rather than on the CRIME. A jury of his peers, duly selected by both the prosecutor and the defense, validly convicted former Stanford swimmer Brock Turner of 3 COUNTS OF FELONY Sexual Assault. Unfortunately, the Judge (who also is a former Stanford athlete) sympathized more with the FELON than with the victim in issuing the Sentence -- a few weeks in County Jail and no time AT ALL in prison (despite the fact that Turner had been convicted of THREE FELONIES). By definition, ONE felony requires a year of prison time. Judge Aaron Persky incorrectly called Turner a "First Time Offender." NOPE Aaron Persky -- Turner was a FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD time offender, and you cannot read the victim's piercing statement without recognizing that the impact on the victim's life was far more profound than what would be caused by a genuine sentence in actual prison for Felon Turner. There is a movement to recall Aaron Persky, whose very presence embarrasses my home of Palo Alto, California. LET'S RECALL AARON PERSKY and replace him with someone better. ANYONE would be better.

In the Turner case, Stanford graduate Judge Aaron Persky decided that three felony counts (assault with intent to commit rape of an intoxicated woman, sexually penetrating an intoxicated person with a foreign object and sexually penetrating an unconscious person with a foreign object) was only worth a 6-month sentence, in which only 3 months will probably be served.

In Persky's court, he allowed Brock Turner to become the victim. It shouldn't matter that he was a Stanford student, or an Olympic-hopeful. Or that he want to start an organization to combat college drinking (and not anything about sexual assault).

Would it be possible for Brock Turner to join the Navy for penance? The Marines accept men with felony records. It would offer Brock Turner an opportunity to earn a Purple Heart and recover his Life. The Lady victim may agree. The Jury may rather see Brock Turner in the Military, protecting them, & not using their tax money for his jail life. Hopefully, the Lady will be compensated for Stanford*s negligences.

Very bright, careful, considerate judge. Does his own independent research and seems to treat parties very fairly. Good temperament and nice courtroom demeanor. Treats counsel with respect. Impressive judge. This judge should be cloned!
