One of the best trial judges I have seen. Can't go wrong. Calm and thoughtful.

Was called for jury duty to courtroom four, Spring Street Courthouse. Judge Moloney was mellow for a judge, thoughtful and thorough. Though I was not able to serve on the jury, the five days that I was in his courtroom - those 1930's vintage benches are unkind to the behind - rank as one of the most informative experiences of my lifetime. He was in no way condescending to any of the women, and I'd feel pretty good if I had to have him as a presiding judge on a case.

He also has a highly attuned BS filter for people without actual hardship trying to get out of jury duty, so fair warning.

I used to work with this judge at a private firm. He certainly liked to talk and talk. Not exactly the brightest attorney attorney, and he had difficulty absorbing anything that did not involve auto liability or employment disputes.

Judge Stephen Moloney ruled in favor of Predatory Lender!CASE# BC699310. Homeowners beware if you have a dispute with your lender on your primary residence he does not care if they have a promissory note, loan disclosures, had their statutes of limitations expired.

On 10/22/19, 32 of us potential jurors were called to Judge Maloney's Division 41 court. After several hours of voir dir,
there were two alternates who needed to be selected. It was late in the day and rather than moving forward and making the selections, Judge Moloney required the remaining potential jurors to return the following day when it took no more than 15 minutes to select the two alternates.

The comments about Judge Moloney being demeaning to women are wrong. I just finished an almost two-week jury trial in his court, as a female attorney, and he is demeaning to no one. In fact, he goes out of his way to be respectful to all genders and cultures, refusing to excuse for cause a juror whose English was not perfect, because "We have a diverse jury pool, and I have to be respectful of that--I can't excuse any juror that doesn't happen to speak the King's English." I did win my trial, but I had made up my mind to write this before that was a certainty.

He is exceptionally thoughtful, diligent, and precise. He is kind, with an easy and approachable demeanor. Really, he is the model of what a Judge should be in every respect.

Judge Moloney put on a dog and pony show for the court reporter. My attorney and I thought he would rule in our favor.

Our opponent's Counsel failed to connect the dots of his case, failed to produce a preponderance of evidence (the standard of proof CCP 1161a demands).

Moloney's Decision did Counsel''s job for him by connecting the dots that Counsel had failed to do.

His Decision was riddled with error of law, misinterpretations of black and white title documents amongst other intentional back-stabbings.

Thank God for Appellate Court.

I agree with the other post below of how he is demeaning to women. However, he didn't hide it well. Told me (a woman) I wasn't allowed to speak in court and his ruling was completely Bias. I hope to file a complaint against him.

Loves to hear himself talk. Thinks he's God's gift to the legal arena. He is the definition of "inconsiderate" and is demeaning to women but tries to hide it well. One phrase to sum him up? "The Kiss of Death."

Judge Moloney is a model of what every judge should be. He's fair, thorough, attentive, engaged, kind, and wise. My assessment could, of course, be influenced by the fact that he recently gave us a favorable ruling. Still, I believe I'd say the same even if he hadn't.
