Civil Litigation - Private

He is thoughtful, even-handed, and patient, even with hordes of difficult pro pers. He is a good, solid family law judge. We need more like him on the LASC family law bench.

This judge now sits in Department L of the Los Angeles Superior Court, San Fernando, California. He is a family law Judge. My experience with this judge was so disturbing, I felt that I had to email a message to Governor Jerry Brown (who appointed this man to the bench recently, in mid-2013) explaining to him that this judge's misconduct prevented and hindered me from receiving a full, fair, and impartial hearing on a custody/visitation issue, in addition to a domestic violence restraining order that I sought against the respondent. This judge allowed me only ten minutes (eight for the DV restraining order, and two for the child custody/visitation hearing) because he was "already behind schedule and still had other cases to hear." Worst of all was when this judge admitted, on record, that he in fact did not read any court documents submitted for this case, no pleadings, nor my declarations, nor my witness declarations in preparation for the hearing, because he was "already behind schedule." Of course, the judge knew nothing about the case and randomly made statements that made no sense and were not relevant to my case. The times that I appeared in this case (due to the many continuances he gave), he was either dozing off on the bench (that's right, falling asleep), or stressed and anxious, glancing at the wall clock every other minute. I write this in hopes of forewarning others about this judge's misconduct on the bench. His blatant disregard for the concept of justice was disgusting.
