Civil Litigation - Private

Rating:2.4
Comments:
Judge MacLaren is ill suited to complex civil matters. She forms her conclusions early based solely on her 'sense' of the law. This is likely very helpful in areas where she is familiar with the law and must deal with a large volume of nearly identical matters. I imagine she can blast through a misdemeanor or probation/parole calendar with absolute perfection. However, she carries this attitude into more complex civil matters with which she is completely unfamiliar. Once she has formed an opinion, it is near impossible to change her mind. The first party to speak will nearly always carry the day with her. It does not seem to matter if the argument is right or wrong. If it squares with what she thinks the law should be, she goes with it regardless of the practical implications.

The prior one star review (Comment #: CA1343) is a believable example of exactly what I am attempting to describe.

Very good in financial/banking matters.

Judge Maclaren is by far the worst judge that I've ever dealt with. She defended my ex for not showing up for his scheduled visitation and even gave him more visitation after he returned from being absent from the country for over 2 years. She refused to grant any sort of evaluation of the child. When she found out that my ex had, on occasion, refused to feed our son she said that as long as there was a 24 hour McDonalds near his house, then it was sufficient for the child. I was appalled and outraged at Maclaren's behavior, she must really hate women and children or both.

Not ready for the prime time yet. If you have a complex civil case you should look elsewhere.
