Comments:
It is unclear if Judge James Mangione is corrupt or just highly biased towards his circle of lawyer buddies. While he received a $500 slap on the hand for violating campaign laws in August 2016, there are no other evidence of corruption. His campaign donors were all other lawyers and judges but that is quite normal. What is unique about Mangione is how detached his rulings are from law and precedent. His rulings are short, lack proper citing and generally lean towards the party he sides with.

One of the best judges that I have come across in my 33 years of practice. He is simply fantastic.

I've been a lawyer for 33 years. Judge Mangione is a breath of fresh air. Very fair. Also, has a great temperment. I've had success and failure in his courtroom. I like him a lot. Wish all judges were like him.

[Redacted by Ed.]

He also shows a strong distaste for the self represented. I sat in his court a few times and noted how he cuts off and ignores the arguments of those he prejudice as inferior to his favorite lawyers. His favoritism is reflected in his rulings which are mostly arbitrary [Redacted by Ed.] Someone needs to call this judge out publicly!

Judge JAMES A. MANGIONE is why We The People lost all trust in the judiciary. MANGIONE is pro-business, Anti-People.
Mangione has a record of prejudice against self-represented litigants. [Redacted by Ed.] Refused to recuse himslef despite a timely filed 170.6 motion AND instructed his clerk to file the 170.6 14 days after it was E-Filed to appear is if it was untimely. It is time to expose these judge publicly!

Extremely plaintiff-oriented. Does not follow the law. Pompous and arrogant. If you represent the defense, he should b a definite 170.6.

While this judge was in private practice as a partner at Wingert Grebing Juskie LLP, he jointly worked with Michael O'halloran a bankruptcy Lawyer to represent his close friend, a lawyer who was sued for debt collection.
To protect the public, Judges are required to file "Notice of Judicial Disclosure" regarding their prior legal and professional relationships with any former associate/ lawyers, a law firm they are familiar with. They must recuse themselves if they know the relationship would influence, has bias, or prejudice any party to a case. (Code Civ. Proc., 170.1 and Rules Proc. of State Bar rule 5.46.)

Rude, arrogant, controlling, cuts litigants off and doesn't let the parties (including attorneys) speak fully. The other reviewers here are correct, in that he rushes the parties (after they prepared and waited for months for the hearing) and sends the parties out without making useful, wise or enforceable rulings. His clerk also has a bad attitude. Mangione clearly doesn't like his job, but he likes the control and prestige of being a judge. He should not be a judge. He said he could not wait to get out of Family Court later this year, but I'm sure once he is transferred to Criminal or Civil court, he will then say he can't wait to transfer out of that court too, and take all of his poor qualities as a judge there, too. He tells attorneys and parties not to tell him something if it is in the documents, which is a terrible practice that I have never seen before, since there is always more to explain than what is summarized in the court documents. Most important: he makes assumptions about (profiles/stereotypes) the parties before they speak, which impacts his rulings, rather than listen to them present their case. He sizes the parties up, thinking he has them figured out before they speak, then applies his prejudged opinions on whether he likes or dislikes that persona, impacting his demeanor and rulings. The worst and most useless judge I have seen.

Most Judges wait for the Evidence to be presented before they make ruling ! Must had a golf game so rushed it along and @#$&ed a family out a home. To a grifter with 10 Names and know for identity theft ! JUSTICE is BS

He told us to make it work for our child. Sent us out to reach an agreement we didn’t come to one (but we came close) so he sent us back out. I respect his view on the importance of two healthy parents parenting while setting aside any petty differences

Judge Mangione is a good guy who wants it like it is and doesn't like BS. While my family law case had a mixed outcome, he was fair and deliberate in his verdict. I would highly recommend him
