Justice Coen is a remarkable man. Reasonable, humorous, sane, and well spoken. He was especially helpful in dealing with the complications of courtroom procedure. It was a real pleasure to watch him work.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA3557
This man was involved with another judge many years ago in a contest to see who could get the most capital convictions. This man was assigned a civil law and order matter in San Fernando to rule against a lawyer that had pissed off another judge. He was instructed to and did rule against the lawyer on the motion because the motion was "retaliatory." The man is a blot on the judicial system.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comment #: CA1596
I would prefer not to be in front of this judge. He is smart and prepared but he is not a kind man. He almost seems to delight in imposing harsh sentences -- especially the death penalty.
