For the most part, very pleasant. I can tell them a lot of these comments that he handles mostly criminal-- non-civil matters.

He should stick with that. He tries but he has no clue on civil procedure. For our jury trial- employment/sexual harassment, he just could not get it.

Handled a short cause trial for our case. Had a wonderful demeanor and carefully prepared by reading the trial brief and the complaint. Grasped the concepts very well. Was most helpful. I would be delighted to appear before him anytime.

This is an update to Comment #: CA10161.
A year after my comment abou this judge the father of my children was arrested and convicted of inappropriate behavior with his 8 year old step daughter. Now he is in prison for 27 years. Thank you Judge Gasdia for putting my kids with that monster!

170.6 is a definite necessity for this judge. Changes rulings mid-sentence and has strong bias towards plaintiffs. Conveniently changes the interpretation of the law to ensure the side he favors gets all that he wants to give them. This judge is a prime example of why many attorneys and ordinary citizens lose faith in our legal system.

Without exaggeration, one of the finest judges I've tried a case in front of (state or federal) in over 35 years of practice. Great judicial temperament. Fair to both sides. Pays attention. knows the law. Practical and flexible with scheduling. Lets parties try their case. Well run courtroom. A real pleasure to try a case before.

Its been been 13 years since that fateful day when Judge Gasdia took my teenage son and daughter from me. They were with me until age 14 and 12 when the 14 year old wanted to go live with his dad.

The dad worked nights, so the teenagers would be by themselves after school. I fought this tooth and nail. In & out of the courts since 2001. Judge Gasdia ordered a pysch evaluation, which I had to pay for since the ex had no money. The court appointed evaluator came to the conclusion that my son should be allowed to go to his fathers, but my daughter should be allowed to stay with me.

Judge Gasdia did not heed his own Court appointed physch evaluation and sent both of them to live with their dad. He also ordered that my attorney, the ex did not have one, draw up the orders (which I had to pay for, too!).

The kids went to live with their dad and went from getting straight A's to failing classes. Horrbile situation and the court evaluator knew this. But Judge did not care. I believe he is just biased towards women.

Now my ex is in jail for molesting his step daughter since she was 8 (now 16) & I'm trying to help my daughter overcome what she went thru.

Women beware, of this Judge. If your case is assigned to him, request a recusal. He is not a good family law judge - he does not care what happens to the children in his court.
