This is the same putz who managed and screwed up the O.J. Case. Marcia Clark and Chris Darden the underlings really messed this case up big time. Just not on top of the game!

Judge Goldberg is extremely talented at facilitating settlements. He is also excellent at providing a reality check to litigants who appear to be looking for orders with no legal or factual support (which is probably where some of his negative reviews are coming from).

We hired Hank Goldberg for a voluntary settlement conference in our divorce. I walked in prepared with bank statements showing that my husband had taken huge sums of money, 40% of all community compensation earned by him over a 24-year marriage, and transferred that money into an account only he had access to, without my knowledge or permission. I'm not talking "evidence" I'm talking "proof" here. I had text messages my husband had exchanged with male prostitutes, showing he'd spent literally thousands of community dollars on sex -- not merely texts, but selfies they'd taken of these encounters, and I was able to match these to actual cash withdrawals from our bank account. Judge Goldberg dismissed it all as "circumstantial evidence." His exact words for my husband's spending on prostitutes, was that a judge wouldn't ever award a dime to be repaid to me, that it was "no different than if he'd been spending on golf." That's an exact quote. He also brushed aside the possibility that I was ever entitled to recover the money my husband had stolen. You know the expression "marry in haste, repent at leisure"? In my case, it's "settle in haste, repent at leisure" because I have nightmares, every night, about Judge Goldberg, about how he told me no judge would respect the clear boundaries of California law, how the normal practice is for judges to just give something to each side on the assumption that both sides are equally guilty. I can drive him from my thoughts usually during the day, but by night when I am drifting off it all comes back to torment me. I wake up with blood on the pillow, from gouging my scalp with my fingernails. That's what Judge Goldberg did to med.

This judge has very lofty ideas about himself, yet cannot write a coherent order. His orders are inconsistent and flawed. And beware, if and when he issues an order that is literally impossibly to comply with, he will not admit it, but will find the party in non-compliance and then modify his order rather than admit the order was flawed. He has a "formula" he tries to follow and uses his own book " keys to the kingdom" aptly named by his ego, to support his own 'boiler plate' approach to writing orders in very complex family law cases. He is not appropriate to use for complicated custody issues as he does not grasp the subtleties and tries to over-simplify things, when not one-size-fits-all. If you seek to use this judge, I advise you read his book " keys to the kingdom' first, and write your own orders. it will cost you $30 instead of $300,000.00.

Jewish judges have a monopoly of the American Justice system . It’s a known fact. Anyone pretending it’s not, is just burryjng their head in the sand.

I have been saying this all along. Do a 170.6 in judge Goldberg immediately.
The longer you wait the harder it gets.
This judge needs to be removed in disgrace.

Goldberg did binding arbitration in my case. If you have a DV case do not stipulate with him. He is a mediator at heart. A mathematical bureaucrat. Putting the child’s safety first is not his forte. The other parent has been found to have strangled 3 partners. Criminally convicted twice. 2 expert witness therapists have testified to reducing time significantly ( the custody evaluator suggested supervised). The other parent was found to emotionally abuse the child at best and ongoing DV occurring in the other parent’s household. Goldberg still ordered more overnights and called the other parent “ fit” despite also finding the other parent to have ongoing DV issues.

Abusive parent equals fit parent? What logic is this? It’s ONLY mediator and business logic and NOT for the sake of the child.

I would certainly consider taking business disputes to him but for kids in abusive households the “ middle” is detrimental.

Violates many long-established tenants of settlement 101. For instance, before hearing from both sides, told one side that they had a very strong position. Of course, that just made them dig in more and greatly hindered progress. Maybe he knew the lawyer?
By the time we got to him for settlement conference, there had been hours spent in evidentiary hearings on several technical matters. Nevertheless, Goldberg felt that he could disagree with the trial judge based on what Goldberg had read in the opposing party's settlement conference brief. Also, very one dimensional when it came to settlement techniques. Hard to believe, but true that he was unfamiliar with basic methods to close the gap between the parties. Not a waste of time, but be prepared to 1) drive the talks, and 2) try to prevent him from addressing he parties from the bench before the settlement talks. I've heard him say things that just aren't conducive to enhancing the parties' flexibility for settlement.

I agree with all the negative comments about judge Goldberg . I am still fighting custody after 8 years because of him and was denied access because of his harsh and unjust rulings. Many parents were hurt by this judge. Many children suffered because of this judge .

Ever since he lost " an open and shut case” with the OJ trail as a prosecutor and now as a judge nothing have changed. This guy is a light weight - big time looser. He is also a low energy person. He does not follow the rules. I went to the court room to observe his manner a day before my trail and he was drilling someone for showing up late. the next morning, he was an hour and half late himself! his hand writing is illegible, he fails to look at facts instead he swims in an ocean of assumption. if you are going for a mandatory settlement conference in a divorce case, don’t waste your time, if you know there will be no settlement or agreement with the other party.

After one of the more complex cases I worked on languished in the LA courts for more than four years, floating from Judge to Judge, while our adversaries got away with murder on discovery abuses because the LA Judges were either too overwhelmed or simply too lazy to make a decisive ruling on anything, I am grateful that the case finally found its way to Judge Goldberg. His extremely conscientious, detail oriented approach, and willingness to work through and understand legal complexities and voluminous record in order to reach the right result restores a measure of confidence in our justice system. There are still a few shining lights on the bench.

I have had the pleasure of having Judge Goldberg preside over criminal matters when assigned to the Criminal Courts Building, downtown LA, as well as family law matters in his present assignment. He is fantastic across the board, and has a sly sense of humor that puts litigants at ease. As a settlement judge, his current assignment in family law, Judge Goldberg excels. Even when I disagree with him, his logic is impeccable. Smart!

This judge made decisions based on the lies of my ex-wife, who said that I hated Jews, just because I am Palestinian. My children are about to go to India on false reports from Bruce Harshman, who was appointed by Judge Hank Goldberg. Judge Goldberg is not just and not fair to do this to a parent just because of his race and religion.
