Dear Judges Jones and Johnson (Update 6):
CalPERS Long Term Care was worn from sheer nefarious chicanery of some insurance company executives. It was to deny senior citizens every penny they were going to leave their grandchildren as inheritance. It was built on senior citizens fears and age weaknesses to make fat insurance executives become one million dollar a year earners. They deserve to burn in hell by any means necessary.
If you want to do 125,000 helpless seniors a favor, please rule with iron fist in context of one the following to options:
1. To dissolve this company and distribute all its fund balance among 125,000 entrapped members as punitive and compensatory damages.
OR
2. If #1 above is not possible then please order that all restrictions on benefits of CalPERS Long Term Care be dropped including the 90 day wait for receiving benefits as long as SENIOR MEMBERS HAVE REACHED AGE 75, PAID PREMIUMS FOR AT LEAST 15 YEARS AND DOCTORS HAVE CERTIFIED HIM THAT GENRAL PAIN AND ACHE ARE THE ONLY NEEDED PROOF FOR RECEIVING ALL THEIR BENEFITS—THIS SHOULD BE ACCEPTED AS STANDARD DEFINITION FOR GENERAL MORBIDITY. Also benefits should be allowed to be spent on old age related service, including rent at elder facilities of any sort, partially or completely.

Best,
Cyrus

Judge Jones is a 176.1. Favors defense. Tells counsel how to litigate or “else.” Completely slows up the process of litigation as she does not want to intervene in discovery disputes and am not sure what the buzz words are to get her to intervene. I have never had a judge in Complex in any county who purposefully and repeatedly denies plaintiff counsel request for intervention and deal with discovery abuses. Judge Jones just tells you to work it out yourselves. Very frustrating!!

I heard great things about Judge Jones but I found her to be condescending, reactive and abrupt.

Comments:
I appeared in a case before her, in pro per. I am a J.D. (but am not licensed) and have been a practicing paralegal for >29 years. I was extremely well-prepared, organized, and respectful. Too bad Judge Jones wasn't. She was condescending, ill-prepared, and cut me off about two minutes or less into argument. Opposing counsel got much more time and was treated with kid gloves.

I would affidavit her in a heartbeat.

I found her to be incredibly condescending and patronizing. She did not let me complete a sentence, nor did she appear to have read our moving papers. It is unclear on what basis she still holds her position.

I have to agree with the lawyer here who says Judge Jones thinks she knows more than she does. Very BAD judicial temperament. Rude and condescending. She cost me my drivers license for a year because she thought I was some dumb pro per who would not challenge her decision, which a first year law student would have realized was improper. I had her revered in a published decision by the California Court of Appeal. See:

Exceedingly bright. Reads the papers, grasps the issues. Is able to both give a fair hearing and move her calendar.

This judge has one of the worst temperments I have experienced in 25 years of practice. She is quick to jump to a conclusion and won't change even if wrong. She thinks she knows more than she does. She ruled for my client (civil defendant)on some preliminary matters (and sanctioned the other side) and against my client on a demurrer. The case was eventually dismissed, but she could have dismissed at the demurrer stage and saved everyone hundreds of thousands of dollars. I would affidavit her in the future.
