Criminal Defense Lawyer

Rating:9.1
Comments:
Judge Kronstadt was one of the fairest and most even-tempered jurists I have appeared before in LASC in many years. He will make an excellent federal judge.

Litigant

Comment #: CA1527
Rating:1.0
Comments:
In the JULY 18, 2006 hearing transcript of case BD 203304, Judge Kronstadt admitted in open court that he did not sign the May 2, 2006 Order After Hearing, even though he wrote on the Order in an ex parte communication to my ex-spouse, that she did not acknowledge that the judge ordered I pay $5,000 in attorney's fees to her then-fiancee attorney, even though I was the prevailing party and there was a prevailing party clause in our agreement. The only basis given by Judge Kronstadt was -- I don't see why Mr. Levin needs to be a pro bono attorney. Judicial Counsel Complaint and Civil complaint pending.

Comment #CA1380 is spot on. With his Ivy League credentials, big law firm experience, D.C. connections, marriage to another LASC Judge, etc., you'd think he would be a good judge, get rulings right and treat litigants evenhandedly. He's not and he doesn't.

Rude and Biased.
Will go out of his way to assist the side that he likes, contrary to law and facts.
He has found out that judges can be lawless dictators in LosAngeles, and has become a lawless dictator himself.

I don't have the same regard for him as prior posters. Maybe its because he's angling for appointment to the federal bench or his docket is overcrowded, but he's distracted and impatient these days. He made a big deal about how much time he spent with counsel on my case and how we should be grateful, all the while pushing me in chambers to settle when my client was clearly in the right. He also puts up with letting opposing counsel get away with the usual Mosk Courthouse antics. You can do a lot worse but I don't give him high marks much less recommend him for district court.

A good judge with a background in civil litigation. That puts him a leg up on other judges. I think he's defense-oriented, but still a better plaintiff's judge than most of the nim-wits who are presently on the bench.

Judge Kronstadt is a very, very good judge. Although he has a defense back ground, I would not hesitate to use him in a plaintiff's case (either business or PI). I like him more for business cases but either way he is very good. Low key, smart, willing to listen, willing to let attorneys make their best argument and likeable.
