His is a great courtroom to try a case. He's smart, fair and lets lawyers try their cases. Can't find a better trial judge and few are his equals.

Went against me on a demurrer on the statute of limitations for a Bane Civil Rights Claim cause of action where it was clear that he approached the issue from an emotional place of reminiscence for the Civil Rights Era, in direct contradiction of clear authority: "I grew up during the civil rights era, and you can't tell me that this cause of action arises from common law." Needlessly in-your-face with the "you know where the court of appeals building is, just try me" comment.

It is a pleasure to try a case in front of Judge Munoz. I have tried 2, one jury and one non-jury, both complex and he handled them most evenhandedly and professionally.

A top notch and genial trial judge who knows the ropes. Sees through truly oppressive discovery. Wants real meet and confers. Will work with counsel on difficulties. Not a bully. Fair. If you have a good rep, he'll remember. Very easy on lawyers who are doing their job. Will try to circumvent legal techicalities. BUT..if you are behaving badly or are exposed as a knave, it'll cost you here. I'd happily try any case to this judge.

He's been around a long time. He's not above picking sides and is smart enough to make rulings that are hard to overturn on appeal. Your basic sneaky veteran trial judge: extremely nice and genial, but if you are on the wrong side you're going to have a battle of wits on your hands. He's very smart.
