Does not belong on the bench. Ong is bully. He abuses his position and ignores the law. Little man with a big chip on his shoulder.

Tough judge. Definitely a man of his word and hard stance on keeping criminals accountable for their wrongdoings. The best judge in LA Superior Court to receive the proper punishment/sentencing for their crimes. A defender and protector of society.

Comments:
Strict, tough-on-crime, no-nonsense, respectable and honorable judge. Judge Tomson Ong keeps criminals accounted for especially in this environment of pro-criminal politicians and district attorney Gascon. Judge Ong will not tolerate any nonsense, theatrics, or shenanigans especially from criminal defendants. He keeps criminals in jail where they belong. The only people who dislike him are likely defendants or family/friends of them. Great judge and upholder of the law.

Superb judge! No nonsense, good sense of humor too. Keeps cases moving along the criminal train tracks. Those that “hate” him are most likely family or friends of defendants. One word for you that detest him...Choices! Make the wrong one and stand in front of THIS judge? LOL.

Judge Tomson Tio Ong is a racist hateful acting court magistrate.
He should be removed from the bench. He should be arrested for the crimes he has committed while on the bench in long beach california.
He is under investigation for malfeasance and violating defendants constitutional rights.

Do not trust this evil judge. How is he a professor at USC college?
What a biased, bad tempered, law breaking judge.
He should go to jail.
One day he will go to jail.
Watch and see.

Ong is a bully who suffers from short man's syndrome. He will try to retaliate against your clients if you don't play his game. Ong set bail for one of my clients at 10K on a $300 ticket. I papered him and he looked like he was about to birth a cow. Stay away from this guy if you are defense counsel. I'm surprised he isn't papered more frequently.

I was on a jury panel but was booted by the defense (no surprise there). His Honor was one of the friendlier judges I have encountered, yet he demanded (and got) a high degree of respect for the law, the jury service system, and of everyone in the room. I enjoyed his court more than any other I have had the pleasure to serve. He has a bright disposition, a sharp (and very humorous) wit, and a very clear grasp of how to impart logic and the ways of the law to jurors from all walks of life. Though I find jury duty to be stressful due to work demands, I ended up wishing I could be a juror just so I could participate in proceedings under his direction. Maybe I'll get lucky next time and serve in his court again.

He'll give you a very good trial, but is a very tough sentencer if the jury convicts your client. He'll help you with probationary plea deals, but your client should not plan on violating probation. If your client violates, he will impose the agreed time that has been suspended. He word is golden and he'll keep his word in suspended sentences.

Judge Ong is generally polite to attorneys. He can be very over-zealous at pretrial negotiations, on probation violations, and sentencing issues. However, he does try, in most cases, to make fair rulings during trial. Anyone who loses at trial should plan on the max.
