Comment #: CA24950
Judge Rico always rules for the corporate interest. His temperament is nasty. He is rude and does not allow for all sides to present their case fairly. Always, always, try to get another judge to hear your case.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA24938
If you get assigned to Judge Rico, run to the courthouse and file an affidavit to disqualify him. He is a very hostile person with no judicial temperment. He is very arbitrary. Basically a horrible person not suited to be a judge.

Civil Litigation - Govt.

Comment #: CA23907
Based on my opinion as a plaintiff without attorney. (not one)
The defendant (City of Los Angeles) payed Attorney by District Attorney Office based on Judge Gail Feuer statement.
Law over all, no concern for the truth.

Excellent judge. One of the best in Stanley Mosk

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA16095
Represented a small business owner in defense of multi-cause of action employment discrimination case. The judge fully grasped all aspects and issues of the case. He was always prepare, moved his calendar quickly but with attention to detail. Case settled as we were about to pick a jury. I would not hesitate to try a case in Judge Rico's court.

Richard Rico is one of the lazy rubber stamp judges at Stanley Mosk Courthouse Dept. 17. He doesn't bother to read the case documents but makes decisions and rulings on his feelings. He clearly has no knowledge of the SLAPP law and rules again on feelings. He clearly hates his job and makes people suffer with his lack of ethics and integrity. If you are assigned to his courtroom GET OUT QUICK! His clerk is one of the nastiest clerks on Hill street. He is RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL to everyone. Get rid of this judge!

Comment #: CA10070
Judge Rico is unfair and dismissive of litigants. He refuses to let cases go to trial by issuing inconclusive summary judgements.

Comment #: CA9543
Judge Rico favors large developers in his opinions.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA7405
Great Judge. He holds his CMCs in chambers, is extremely reasonable, and provides well thought out tentatives.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA6262
Judge Rico is an okay trial Judge, but he does not seem to understand the SLAPP law. He has more appellate court reversals regarding his incorrect SLAPP rulings than any Judge I've seen.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA6251
A VERY fine trial judge. He knows evidence, and let's the attorneys try their case. He is no nonsense, yet has a great sense of humor.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA3931
Intelligent, evenhanded, respectful to counsel, judicious. Everything a good judge should be.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA1155
Good Judge. Provides well reasoned tentatives on the morning of appearance. Very even handed.
