She had no interest in hearing from the family whatsoever. She had no interest in trying to understand the severity of the mental illness before her. My son is now on probation when he should be in a mental health facility getting treatment for his schizophrenic delusions, and she was not at all interested even though she released him into our care at the first hearing. She was not interested at all in the second hearing as to the result of her decision to release him into our care and cared only to keep things moving. We didn't want special treatment - we just wanted a voice to say a few words on our son's behalf to get him the treatment he so desperately needs. She only said, "Someone is raising their hand. I don't take questions in my courtroom."

I agree law and case law are not her strong suit. She is fact-centered. If you follow her rules, she will be more than decent. I have gotten her to release OR or to Open Plea to diversion, but you must build a reporte and state facts relevant to these things. She congratulates those who make progress and scolds those who don’t. She is prosecution-oriented, but it is predominately because she goes by facts. If the facts are there, she holds it to answer. She will lend to the prosecution if they establish a give-and-take relationship with her, but she will also do the same for the defense, if they do the same. If one establishes this relationship, she calls them by their first name in court. She is efficient and commanding. I have seen her been lenient and I’ve seen her be unyielding. If the defense and prosecution agree, she seldom gets in the way and instead facilitates. She is impatient, but makes good use of time and keeps both sides on their toes. She will force both a UTP or bench warrant before noon.

She is the worst Judge in Southern California; not just Los Angeles. I have been a lawyer for 25 years and this is not an even minded person. File a 170.6 immediately. It is our collective fault to allow this type of person on the Bench. She has no idea what the rules of evidence are, and has the absolute worst demeanor I have ever seen!

America is blemished by having Judge Villar on the bench. She is the worst judge that I have ever appeared in front of. Comments from others regarding her inability to be impartial, and her mean-spirited personality are right on. This is probably why she is forever in prelims and never seems to move up into a trial court position. If she was in a trial court everyone would 170 her. Over the years she does not appear to have grown or developed professionally. It reflects poorly on Judge Gordon as well when a judge is so far off the rails, but at least he keeps her in prelims instead of trials.

I have no idea how she is still on the bench. She is not only pro prosecution, but she is rude, belittling, arrogant and possesses the worst temperament I have ever seen in a judge. If you have complex legal issues to litigate in the Prelim., I beg of you to paper her. Yes - I wish Scott Gordon would spend at least 1 hour in her courtroom and observe her. He would be disgusted by her. She is an embarrassment to the system.

100% Biased On The Prosecutor's side from the very start. Do not let your case be heard in this Highly Biased Judges Courtroom. She should not be allowed to remain on the bench.

RUN - RUN - RUN from this insane woman.
I should have filed a 170 on her but it was only a Preliminary Hearing I thought, how bad could she be? YES she was THAT BAD. She has has to be mentally unstable and yet there she is, on the bench ruining lives just for the thrill of it all.

In my 35 years of criminal defense it was my WORST courtroom experience. No need to know the law in her court - she will give the prosecution whatever they want no matter how outlandish and contrary to the law. Totally unqualified to sit as a judge at a county fair baking contest let alone on the bench.

It was very devastating experience to see my family members lose all hope in our judicial system. She has a blatant anti-defendant bias. This judge is not here to protect and hear the people, she is there to defend and agree with the D.A. that appears before her. Where is the fair trial that everyone deserves?

It was a very tragic experience to see my family members lose all hope in our judicial system, based on the blatant anti-defendant bias that this judge demonstrated in her courtroom. This judge has made a mockery of our justice system in her efforts to tip the scales in favor of the prosecution.

I have appeared before this judge, and after twenty years of practice, I was extremely unimpressed. She is condescending, closes the courtroom so that the public does not see what she is doing, and threatens witnesses. She does not seem to have a grasp of criminal legal proceedings, and her temperament is geared towards protecting the D.A. that appears before her. I would never go back to appear before her. I was disgusted by her lack of knowledge of the law and her refusal to adhere to fairness, as well as her unwillingness to learn these principles.

Terrible judge. In the pocket of the prosecution. She either doesn't know the law or is openly flouting it. Shameful.

Judge Villar is so awful, you feel you must apologize to your client for being randomly assigned to her courtroom. And, that's arraignment court! Should there be an occassion we have a pre-trial matter before her -- its a pre-emptory challenge.
