Commissioner Castro is untethered from legal precedent. Since she cannot be appealed by Small Claims plaintiffs, her decisions can be prejudiced by her personal feelings toward litigants, with little regard for applying the law.

Horrible Emma Castro needs to retires racist,unorthodox. I would say more. She did not let defendant speak or show evidence she kept screaming at her like if she knew both sides when she only let one side be heard. Horrible Emma Castro needs to be remove from her position. The courts need to read this reviews and remove incompetent, racist from some kind of authority they have. Horrible and racist is the least of what I have to say.

WOW. Only in Los Angeles, can a completely incompetent person hold such a position and seemingly operate in a manner beyond reproach. If you unfortunately find yourself in front of the dishonorable Emma Castro, just make sure you also file a "COMPLAINT ABOUT A CALIFORNIA JUDGE,

The State Bar Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation found Emma Castro “NOT QUALIFIED” for a Superior Court Judgeship. Thankfully, she LOST against Joan Chrostek in 2014, and it appears she will NEVER be anything but a Small Claims judge. The reason for all of the above is fairly simple: Castro has very limited experience, a dangerously low ability to understand ANY case with numerous details, and it seems her general comprehension is entirely incapable of performing very fundamental critical thinking. I have personally been in her court room, Dept. 90, six times: she is ALWAYS late, she has postponed cases because she didn't UNDERSTAND them, she is generally unkind and angry, she has ruled INCONSISTENTLY on many similar cases, she has ruled AGAINST STATE LAWS AND STATUES, she has ruled against existing case law, she has overreached and ruled on cases that should NEVER be in her court room.
The PEOPLE OF LOS ANGELES suffer when such an incompetent blowhard is behind the gavel. For all of you who may unfortunately enter small claims, REQUEST DEPT 1A, and avoid Judge Emma Castro in Dept 90 if you want a chance at justice.

Emma Castro asked irrelevant questions. She did not let the defandant explain her evidence. Defandant was only allowed to answer yes or no. She continously stop defandant from speaking to try and protect herself. She is very rude an unorthodox. She doesn't take into consideration the statue of limitations law and allows hearsay. Horrible Commissioner that should retire! If you have the right to change Commissioner, please do.

Defendant failed to present his evidence to plaintiff as indicated by the clerk prior to hearing. The defendant instead showed the judge and the judge simply took what the defendant presented without cross checking & deducted from what the defendant owed plaintiff. Judge Emma Castro ignored the plaintiff and only based her decision on what defendant provided. She was not fair at all.

Comments:
Completed a trial De Novo and she estimated that a new decision would be issued within a week. People get busy, so I did not press the issue. Now, 4 full weeks later, she just reaffirmed the previous judgement instead of reflecting the new trial de novo that took place. It's sad that the people who are in charge of enforcing our laws are too lazy to do their job to the full lengths required. Wouldn't stand if I did this to my clients.

She asks irrelevant questions and is unorthodox at times. She doesn't like to be corrected, even when SHE IS 100% WRONG about a statute. She will cut you off and sometimes makes no sense at all. I cringe every time I have to deal with her. She has a TERRIBLE ATTITUDE and needs to retire.

Judge Emma Castro is an example of everything a judge should be. If you are fortunate to get her name on your case, you will have a judge who will ask questions, listen, look at and review the evidence, and get to the bottom of the case. She is not biased or prejudiced and will not look the other way when a case involves an attorney or law firm, as other judges do. She will dispense justice, not vengeance or personal politics. "No One is Above the Law" in her courtroom. She is in the 10 percent of ethical judges. She has earned my family's admiration and respect.

If you told me the court went down to Home Depot and found Emma Castro in the parking lot looking for work, I’d find it believable. She doesn’t listen to evidence and makes a ruling based on who she likes better. To save you some time, I’ve gathered the following information. She likes women more than men, likes the educated more than the uneducated, she hates those who are shy and/or not assertive, and likes Mexicans more than everybody else. She’s not qualified to be a judge and seems to wake up on the wrong side of the bed each day. Oh and her haircut sucks. It looks like her barber was a blind person with no hands and only one working foot.
