Get ready to waste your client's money! Will post tentative rulings continuing the hearing outside the courtroom door about five minutes before the hearing starts and, if you ever get to trial after all the delays, you only get three days per week. That's right, a 10-day trial will last four weeks in his courtroom.

While I like this judge and probably would keep if assigned again, he was not kind to my clients. They were sued by a crazy person, who had a lazy pseudo attorney from Sherman Oaks that just wanted to squeeze money (yet turned down the only chance to do it) out of 2 people in their 80's. This judge let the case drag on and on, costing these defendants time and money when they should have been enjoying sunset years. The case went on for over 3 years of stupidity and insanity (not from the judge, but) because the judge was soft hearted and wanted to let the crazy person have her day in court. She got a continuance once because a psychologist wrote a letter saying she was stressed out by having to go to trial. EVERYONE is stressed out having to go to trial. This case went on beyond all reason because the judge did not take the reins and direct it where it should go, the dumpster. Ultimately, it was assigned to another judge for trial and plaintiff failed to show up. My clients suffered because there was no control exercised over the case by the judge. If you read the complaint, you could see there was no case, it was babble. Having said all that, this judge is a really nice guy and will treat you and your client with respect and courtesy every minute in his courtroom. I believe he reads all the papers submitted before ruling, and he applies the law to the facts intelligently, and with compassion. Excellent explanations in tentative rulings. (do research from them!) He is easy to get a continuance from if you need one. He is user friendly. If you are considering a 170.6, there is an 85% chance you will do worse, maybe 90%.

Agreed. The Judge is a gentleman and well prepared. Tentative rulings are succinct and on point. And courtroom staff are super helpful and nice. I wish every courtroom operated like this.

If you are a trial lawyer, you will appreciate this courtroom as everyone in it is a total professional. Judge DiCesare is a wonderful judge. He is stickler for formality in the courtroom but allows you to try your case. Juries love him. He is fair and evenhanded in rulings. I would agree with the other comments, one of the best judges I have ever dealt with.
