Judge Moss does not deserve the honor of serving on the bench. He is a career defense lawyer who brings his bias and prejudice to the bench. He panders to defense attorneys and insurance companies. Do not let him preside over your case. He has a subpar understanding of current, civil law. He does not understand hearsay or impeachment. I'm shocked that this man was admitted into ABOTA as his understanding of the rules of evidence is elementary at best.

Judge Moss does a quick CMC calendar, quick and to the point, respectful of everyone's time. Pleasant and efficient in bench trials, makes accurate evidentiary rulings.

Moss is a predatory judge and he’s extremely bias and shortminded. Dismiss him as soon as you get assigned him by peremptory challenge ASAP within 10 days , [redacted by Ed.] Your case will be ruined guaranteed unless it benefits him and you . Judges like this is a shame to our judicial process ,

I witnessed Moss act like a complete criminal as he assisted King of Evictions ( self proclaimed title) steal a home from a homeowner who was given 1 day to set up ADA, advise her attorney of a trial, and prepare her trial brief. It was a lynching. It disgusted me. The homeowner had been robbed by same rotten attorney and Moss, Luege and Stafford previously and word has it that the homeowner was able to reverse the illegal eviction completed by Luege, Stafford and Moss. on the 2nd home, the homeowner filed an appeal based on lack of due process by Stafford. The appellate court chose to help the lower court and deny the solid appeal based on a Ex-Parte which missed the mark. As oppose to waiting for the appeal case to be remanded and allow the homeowner to take the case to the next level, Moss chose to hold a hearing and racked her once again into homeless status. I hope this homeowner exposes Moss and all the perks he receives behind the scenes for evicting families illegally. Karma is the worst and Moss will need to answer to his maker concerning how he treated this homeowner with lawless acts. Insane. The public knows....

Judge Moss is a brilliant and dedicated judge. He thoroughly considers every motion, no matter the case subject matter or complexity of the issues. He represents all that a judge should be.

Judge Moss is certainly not the sharpest tool in the drawer and he is plagued by an awful research attorney who is even worse. A nice enough guy but you'd fire him if he worked for you as a law clerk.

This judge is neither brilliant nor brave, but his judicial demeanor is peerless.

He feels he need not bother complying with established law and procedure because he knows best what the outcome should be -- so he just jumps to it without the delay of due process. He is biased against certain categories of litigants and sometimes does not seem to have read the briefs submitted to him.

Judge Moss appears to be even-handed until you are before him with a sympathetic plaintiff's case. Then he seems to rule almost exclusively for the plaintiff over the objections of the defense. It may be that he sees a lot of defense PI defense verdicts and is trying to level the field himself. He has a nice temperament but needs to be a little more unbiased.

Had a 3 day non-jury trial in 2011. The judge was attentive and fair throughout the trial. When annoyed he will let you know; but all in all he was patient. I was very disappointed when I won the case and he refused to apply the Loadstar analysis to attorneys fees. He instead said he "felt the matter was worth about $X" and admitted on the record he did not review the invoices submitted to substantiate fees.

I found the judge to be bored with having to deal with an appeal of a small claims matter that I won. He was not really interested enough to ask relevant questions as was the small claims commissioner who was much more thorough.

Very knowledgable and is polite to attorneys.

Has a great demeanor with even the most ignorant attorneys. Seems to lean to the defense (he's a Gray Davis appointee). Calendar is very backed up. Note that his department does not reserve hearing dates - you just pick your Friday at 10:00 a.m. and serve and file the papers. But then you'll get a call from your attorney service as they're standing there in the court room being told that the date you've chosen is no good. Why they couldn't indicate that over the phone before I filed and served is beyond me, so that's a pain. Doesn't hold FSC's, which is a little weird. Willing to hold settlement conferences on furlough days and Friday afternoons off site.
