an idiot of a man. overturned a 12-0 verdict after a long trial . reason was award was too big in his opinion. didnt do the likely thing : leave the verdict and have a remitter adjust the award. he should be fired and shamed from the bench

Poster child for requiring Superior Court Judges to pass a Bar Exam before subject matter appointment. He is one of the few Superior Court judges that allow attorneys freely express their client's position in open Court. Moreover, Judge Bloom represents the minority of judges that will completely reverse a tentative ruling when presented with contrary governing law. He is reflective in his decisions and is one of the few judges that actually reads counsel's submitted paperwork. However, despite his excellent judicial temperament, Judge Bloom does not possess a fundamental knowledge of California civil law! For example, Judge Bloom stated, in Court, on the record: "I do not think you can get punitive damages in a tort case". Moreover, at the same time, Judge Bloom learned, for the first time that interest on damages was a question for the jury (C.C. 3288). Both legal concepts that are first year law school teachings. Summarily, Judge Bloom should NOT be assigned civil cases, but should be assigned to death penalty appeals, which was the subject matter to which he practiced.

Has no real concept of what the practice of law is for anyone other than a govt employee--does not have a grasp of reality, law, procedure, or anything else for that matter--I tried a bench trial b/f his majesty and the evidentiary rulings were from outer space-worse his findings and the basis of his opinion were suppositions not based on facts, evidence, or recognized inferences--extremely prejudiced against plaintiff's -any plaintiff--defense atty's love him as it's so easy so say no and find against anyone with the burden of persuasion or proof-
