Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA12500
Rating:2.0
Comments:
This is the worst Judge I have ever appeared before. He has no business being in civil litigation because he has zero experience and does not understand the simplest issues in the Code of Civil Procedure. He is easily confused and has a complete inability to see the forest through the trees. He gets bogged down in minutia and then stumbles over basic civil law. Hearings take 5 times as long as other judges. Matters submitted take weeks or months for him to decide. No decision is safe as he will wring his hands and flip flop back and forth throughout the life of a case. I've asked at least 20 local lawyers their experience and all but 1 tell similar stories to mine.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comment #: CA12488
Rating:4.5
Comments:
Judge Ross has difficulty remaining focused and too often he forgets what an attorney has said. He likes hypotheticals and suggests facts that are not part of the case. Once in a while he comes up with a bright comment, but too often he is either struggling to understand counsels' arguments or he makes comments, indicating his thinking, which he fails to follow in his decision. Which derails the lawyers' arguments, because they believe he is speaking his mind. When opposing counsel made a good, clear argument on a relatively minor point that I could not in good conscience oppose and almost conceded, I waited him out; he ruled against that lawyer.
He won't handle any more cases for me.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: CA10746
Rating:8.9
Comments:
Judge Ross got a civil case on both sides fairly quickly, and indicated he would get into the legal weeds of a case. He also is to be complimented for battling some exotic disease successfully, which shows some real grit.
