Derek Woodhouse runs a courtroom that is slow, biased, and unfair. He misses the mark when it comes to impartially listening to both sides. He is extremely lazy and will avoid doing any work or reading any materials provided by the side he has decided against from the start. He does not provide guidance for either side – he likes to be pushed into a decision and will make sure the decision he renders assists his friends, rather than aiding justice. He is interested in the best interest of corporations and establishments: not a friend of the little guy!

On multiple occasions he has brought juries, litigants, and attorneys through weeks of the trial process, only to rule at the end that it should be dismissed. He makes up his mind early, figures that while he is in a trial he can’t be bothered with anything else, and then waits until the last moment to render a decision, rather than letting a jury decide.

He can barely see or hear and his rulings even on objections are so one-sided, he makes the entire process a joke. His term expires in 2019 and if he does not voluntarily retire (with his pension intact, no doubt) please do everything you can to ensure he does not have the opportunity to continue his reign of injustice. The only person I have ever heard give a quasi-positive opinion of him was an attorney who said, “He’s very easily confused and we can usually push our agenda through when he is on the bench.”

If you have any interest in getting a fair trial, do everything you can to ensure Derek Woodhouse is not the presiding judge. If you’re only interested in winning your case, make sure you are friends with Woodhouse or that you’ve made a political contribution to him larger than your opponents’ – in that case, you almost certainly cannot lose.

He has bankrupted companies by his rulings which were overturned on several grounds on appeal. He does not analyze the law. He does what he wants or maybe what he is paid to do

Unfortunately, it appears that bitter-losing parties are trolling this page leaving biased, untrue reviews--a natural consequence of allowing judges to be rated in this way--especially judges who take the principled stand to defend the weak or the few against the strong or the many (as I have seen from personal experience).

We can't speak up at work, but this judge does not deserve a pension

I think the overall concept of rating a judge by litigants or attorneys is silly. Those that are bitter about losing a case will simply use ratings as a revenge mechanism. Given the date that all of the "my civil harassment filing was denied" ratings appeared, I strongly feel that they are coming from the same 1-2 people that tried to get a restraining order on me in Feb/March 2013, but failed.

Judge Woodhouse correctly denied their claim and they are simply bitter. This site should be shut down--the parties are by nature biased.

This should sum it up about this "judge": purposely annoying another person is not harassment.

If you have a losing case you might want him as he is easily confused.

Easily lead around by the nose, this is especially true in ex parte proceedings when there is no one to challenge what the other attorney is doing. Is completely unfamiliar with technology or its impact on the world. Its easily bamboozled with smoke & mirrors.

He'd make a far better parking ticket judge and a TRO judge.

Spends all day doing his friends a favor. They kick him back political donations. It does not look like the practice of law to me. Pay For Play

He ignores laws that make a case invalid, and seems to make up his own laws because he either is to lazy to do it right, or he simply doesn't care about serving Justice. He should not be a judge. I think that it's time that he retired.

Awful. I presented a clear and articulate case to this judge. It was as if he didn't even hear a word I said. I may as well have been speaking Japanese.

Handled a workplace violence TRO in front of him. He likes to be pushed to a decision. Thought he was fair and had a good handle on the law and procedure, which can be hit or miss with these types of hearings.

Is frequently seen wandering around the Courthouse with no apparent place to be. Believed to have finally lost all mental capability to make independent decisions and no one knows how to get rid of him.
