This is certainly the worst judge in CT. Short tempered , quick to favor one side. Her decision was rendered late and riddled with errors. A sixth grader would have gotten an F for this work. It is possible she is just getting senile. This woman should not be rendering any decisions . She is just not up to the job. Think of the lives she has ruined

I have appeared before Mary Sommer on more than ten family cases in the oast two years that have gone to trial or involved protracted post-judgment hearings. In these matters, it is about split regarding whether the "winning" party is male or female. The comments from litigants are unfair to Judge Sommer. She is bright, thoughtful and reasoned in her opinions. However, if counsel or pro se litigants take matters too far, Judge Sommer is quick to bring order back into the courtroom and does not permit endless, mindless testimony.

This judge needs to be removed from the bench immediately! This is the problem with the legal system it’s not a justice system. How can you make decision on people’s life that you don’t know anything about? You refuse evidence, you seem to have a hearing issue, dementia and needs a psych evaluation and solely base your decision on your emotions, this is people’s life you’re playing with. You were appointed to upheld the law yet you make irrational decisions based on personal feelings and doesn’t apply the law. My 9 year old can write a better decision that the one you wrote and it’s a complete embarrassment and disgrace to the judicial system to have you serve. Do yourself a favor and step down before you’re stripped of that precious robe. Obviously, from these comments you’ve undoubtedly messed up many lives! I’m not sure what your problems are but leave your personal problems outside of the courtroom like we’ve to leave our personal problems at home while we’re at work!

This Judge is an embarrassment to the CT judicial system. She needs to be terminated from her position and needs to see a psychiatrist. I agree with the other posters and now don't feel so alone. She is nasty, doesn't listen, interrupts, refuses to see evidence, yells, makes rude comments, is demeaning, and involves herself in areas that are not her expertise, and then apologizes. Such an embarrassment. Remove her immediately!!! Where is her Supervisor???

Mary Sommer should not be allowed to be in our legal system. She is clearly prejudice against father and even willing to go against other judges to achieve that prejudice. She creates orders that cause confusion and that don't make sense. She doesn't follow the law. She scowls and has a horrible temperament.
She's an absolutely horrible judge.

This woman shouldn't be allowed to judge a drag queen beauty contest let-alone someones life.How can you make a decision when you refuse to listen to both sides.I guess we know who wears the pants in her house.I feel bad for her husband having to wake up to that thing every morning.The woman should be thrown out of the legal justice system.

I have one question? WHY IS JUDGE SOMMER still allowed to be on the stand.
I can't believe she feels she is GOD, sorry a robe does not give you that authority. She will long be gone while her decision has changed my life for ever. I am speaking as the defendant I was NOT allowed to speak at all, she threatened me with HIGH sanctions if I did speak. NONE of my evidence was looked at or submitted nor was I able to speak. She is a disgrace as a human and should be removed immediately. Her decisions and poor judgment has put a burden on me beyond belief. If it did not happen to me I would not believe it. People like her is why the justice system in our country just doesn't work, it is unfair and a complete mockery.

I was in court on 8/14/17.
Sommer allowed my ex to speak first because it was her motion.My ex went on for 10 minutes, when I wanted to speak she told me to be quiet. When I tried to speak sommer threatened me with contempt and sanctions.Didn't want to hear my side at all.She is the most unfair judge I have ever been in front of.I will be filing a grievance.
She needs counseling on how to be a judge and a human-being.She should be fired.HORRIBLE WOMAN.

How do you go about hurting someone's life because you're tired and overwhelmed and overworked. If that's the case Judge Mary Sommer. Step down from the bench. Because every minute you're up there making decisions that make absolutely no sense. That's what you're doing. You're horrible , you aren't fair and you are not just. Some food for thought when you go about your merry life and hurting others.

Judge is in need of a mental health evaluation. She refuses to hear defendants speak, refuses to see evidence, makes assumptions, and makes untrue and biased statements and then retracts. All happened in our case. Plus, she stated info about something she had no knowledge of and then stated on tape she was mistaken after yelling and carrying on. She is hot headed, incompetent and makes you realize why the legal system is a failure. Sommers should be removed asap. Even court personnel told us she is known for erratic, angry and unfair behavior. Pathetic.

Horrible woman, becomes completely biased as the day continues on case after case. Refuses to listen to defendants. Rules in honor of plaintiff, only has their best interests in mind, and completely disregards the mental and emotional health of children. She needs to be removed from the bench.
