Tried a civil jury trial, very fair, one of he best judges I have appeared before. Wish I could try more cases before Judge Burgess.

One of the best judges I've ever appeared before - the best in my opinion. Unfortunately for our system of justice, he seems like a relic of an era when judges had to be superior lawyers in order to get appointed to the bench; whereas nowadays, you can be a total moron and still get appointed as long as you're well-connected politically and/or generous with your contributions.

Excellent judge. Southern-draw makes hime seem at times as if he is out of a movie. Excellent knowledge of the law, great temperment, and will let you try your case. Steps in when necessary and will force witnesses to answer an attorney's questions when appropriate.

Anyone that draws Judge Burgess should consider themselves fortunate.

This judge has a strong understanding of the law, including rules of evidence, and is especially good at handling complicated matters. He closely tracks statutory law and expects counsel to have a thorough understanding of relevant provisions. I never go to court without the statutes and rules in hand. His rulings are very thorough and he is able to keep cases moving through the docket. Cases tend to be resolved quickly -- even cases that go to trial move pretty fast.
