What others have said about Hon. Brian Holeman

Comment #: DC453
Absolutely arrogant! This judge is willing to bend any rule to achieve his aims.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: DC384
Judge Holeman is excellent. Although he rarely breaks a smile, he moves things along and has no patience for attorneys who cannot answer his direct, and non-complicated questions. I cannot blame him for this. When an attorney tries to beat around the bush or duck his questions, they deserve his wrath.

Comment #: DC324
He is a deliberate and methodical judge. This can be frustrating in some respects -- simple matters are often dragged out longer than may be necessary, and he has little or no consideration for the time and financial constraints of litigants. On the other hand, he gives both sides an opportunity to present their cases. You do not have to worry that he will shoot from the hip or make on-the-spot or unexpected rulings. He'll eventually get to the right decision or let the case play out until the parties get there for him. Courtroom decorum is of paramount importance, as is familiarity with the rules of procedure. A serious temperament -- he won't crack a smile and does not welcome friendly banter or attempts at humor.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: DC305
He was late this morning and failed to handle his docket in order. He kept lawyers who needed 5 minutes of the Court's time waiting for hours while he handled other matters that most judges would have put to the end of a docket. He has a very nice temperament, but should better appreciate the work load of the attorneys who appear before him.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comment #: DC229
Not punctual, very slow in handling his calendar causing much wasted time. However, he does act with respect towards all parties. Tends to be pro-defense pretrial and pro-prosecution during trial. Sentences harshly.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: DC146
Rarely cracks a smile, but that is not required. Thorough, patient, thoughtful, and bends over backwards to be fair.

Judge Holeman is a typical Superior Court Judge - arrogant and wrong. My sole experience in his courtroom was one of the worst I have experienced in almost 19 years of practice.
