Comments:
Very superficial. More worried about her makeup than the litigants. Takes a lot of time off. Doesn't listen mindfully. Completely there for the salary.

While I know from prior hearings with Judge Feld that she has little to no knowledge of the law and how it applies. I recently obtained a judgment against an attorney and was looking for assets. I found a final judgment in favor of that attorney entered by Judge Feld, a County Court Judge whose jurisdictional limitation was $15K at the time the judgment was entered. However, the judgment is void on its face, as it states: "Plaintiff is awarded total Civil Theft Amount Claimed: $38,079.84" It reserved as to fees and costs, so no question this was the principal amount in controversy. A review of the complaint and proceedings also demonstrate that the civil theft statute was applied incorrectly. But what judge doesn't know something as simple as subject matter jurisdiction ... apparently Judge Feld.

Comments:
In civil matters, this judge appears to be completely oblivious to the law. She ignores the rules, statutes and legal precedent and makes decisions according to her own whims. While arrogant, she doesn't even seem to realize that she is not following the law. She seems to actually believe that the law is whatever she wants it to be.

This lady is only interested in getting in and getting out of court. She is uninterested in justice or in taking the time to understand a case and its facts. During an eviction process, we presented hard facts with proof consisting of receipts that our landlord has signed and dated, accepting rent from us continuously, including this month! He has been collecting rent of $3700 per month for the past six months on a small 1550-square-foot townhouse. We missed December, but he accepted January and then started eviction procedures. Judge Ellen Feld granted the emergency hearing that we set up within one minute of facing her with the landlord. She decided to grant the eviction, and ordered my family with four children out within seven days -- no ifs, ands, or buts! We have appealed the case and are waiting to hear from Judge Beller. Judge Ellen Feld apparently was just filling in for Judge Beller and really didn't want to be bothered with the case. Awesome job, Judge Feld -- awesome job!
