Litigant

Comment #: FL1477
Rating:Not Rated
Comments:
For a judge with 1200 cases on her docket, Judge Maass has a remarkable ability to recall the details of the case before her. She gives the impression that she has little tolerance or sympathy for snivelling attorneys. If you are unfamiliar with the case law and are intent on asserting some position that is unsubstantiated by law or fact, this is not the judge you want to find yourself in front of. On the other hand, if your position has merit, be you plaintiff or defendant, this is the judge that you want.

Civil Litigation - Govt.

Comment #: FL822
Rating:6.3
Comments:
Judge Maass is known as a jurist who makes attorneys uncomfortable as she tends to interrupt arguments and offers her own unsolicited views. Many times, she favors form over substance which some may believe shows that she is meticulous, but others find petty. I question her impartiality - a crucial trait for a judge. This seems to be borne out in her actions in the Morgan-Stanley case which showed her bias in favor of the county's biggest plaintiff's firm. Conventional wisdom is that she aspires to the 4th DCA. Trial lawyers won't shed any tears.
