Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: FL2322
Rating:10.0
Comments:
This is one of the best if not the best judges that we ever had in south Florida. Very smart. Intellectually honest and curious. A judge that actually read and UNDERSTANDs case law and rules of civil procedure. If he ruled against you, at elast you would know it was on tbhe merits and not some random absurd reasons as tends to happen often now days. It also never mattered whether you had a young attorney v. an older attorney, solo practitioner v. large firm, in Judge Carney's courtroom -- decisions were strictly on the merits. He will be sorely missed. There are a very small handful of judge's like Carney. A quality act in every sense.

Comments:
Knows procedure inside and out. He reads case law and will do his own legal research to further educate himself on an issue. He is firm, but he can also be a little flexible. Takes his job very seriously and always looking to improve. A pleasure having him on the bench.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Know your rules of procedure because you can bet this judge knows them and sticks to them. He reads case law and is an intelligent judge. He also will hear some motions at motion calendar that other judges will not which speeds the case along. A fine judge.
