This judge demonstrates bias in favor of the Department's actions and statements. This judge has refused to hear evidence which calls the DCF's allegations into question. This judge is refusing to apply measures stipulated under Florida law to enable a family to resolve their problems and reunify. The judge has been rude and demeaning towards the mother, the father and the grandparents. The judge is acting like she has already decided that the case will end in the child being put up for adoption at the age of fifteen by finding an excuse, even one that she creates, to terminate parental rights.

Judge Goodman's attitude is that the child is always wrong. She penalizes the child for the actions of the parents. She arrested our grandson because his parents wouldn't bring him to court. She will not listen to any stories of abuse by the parents, and asks the parents what more they want her to order. She leaves everyone feeling disgusted about the Santa Rosa judicial system.

On January 13th, 2014, we were in Florida, because our granddaughter was taken from her home by the DCF. Judge Goodman was the presiding judge. I could not believe it when all of the family cases were in the courtroom at once. There was no privacy. The DCF petition was full of false statements, and no one would listen. Our granddaughter had lived in our home for 13 of her 15 years. There was no way that Judge Goodman would send her back to Texas with us. Grandparents apparently have no rights in Florida. Judge Goodman will not even let her stepfather contact her, and he has known her for 14 years and is her godfather.

I sure wish they would de-robe her.

When Judge Marci Goodman first walked into the courtroom, I did not think that she was any kind of professional person on this particular case. She was loud and obnoxious, laughing and behaving as if she were a child. I was shocked when the court announced "all rise" and then, of course, Judge Goodman came out to preside. Her behavior changed from being childlike to that of a middle-school bully. I question how she has become a judge at all in Florida. Her bizarre behavior is permitted and too many people are tried under her ruling. Read the Pensacola News Journal article, "Judge Looses Her Cool in the Courtroom" -- that will further explain more than I can post here. At least the writer of that news story, and others posting here, are brave enough to come forward about her. Maybe she won't be re-elected if more people have the courage to stand up to her and elect a professional, dignified judge to replace her -- one who we can really call "Your Honor."

My very first pre-trial today with the Honorable Marci Norman. She practically ignored us with my lawyer standing waiting to start the conference. She was very unprofessional, and continued chatting with her old co-worker -- who, as it happens, is the also the lawyer for the plaintiff in this case.

This judge is the absolute worst judge in the circuit; short-tempered, verbally abusive and deaf to anything but the sound of her own voice. I had read about her on a local website, but could hardly believe what they said until it was my misfortune to appear before her. She left my children in danger, and the emotional scars will last a lifetime.

"Honorable" Goodman needs to lose her job and never work in law again. She refused to look at my evidence i had provided on behalf of the petitioner. The petitioner was a minor (under the age of 5) that had been a victim of domestic violence and after judge Goodman was done with the case, she granted the child to go back with the abusive parent. She does NOT care about children or the well being of them.

As a 15+ year civil litigator, I cannot remember coming before a less articulate or knowledgeable member of the judiciary. Judge Goodman's demenaor --- far from "judicious" --- was intemperate and downright rude. She shows clear disdain for attorneys and litigants who dare to take 20 minutes of her time for hearings and is infuriated by the audacity of attorneys who provide her with materials in advance of the hearing (in a futile attempt to educate her Honor on the facts and the law). The statements she makes in open court demonstrate an ignorance of substantive and procedural law. While I cannot speak to the prosecutor's experience (and I am aware that there is a plethora of negative opinions about her from the criminal defense side), in this attorney's humble opinion, Marci Goodman has no business serving on the circuit civil bench.

Comments:
Judge Goodman expects lawyers to be prepared and knowledgeable about the issues surrounding their cases. While her expectations are high, she is fair in her dealings with attorneys. She is very tough in her juvenile delinquency and dependency cases, but she truly cares about children. That is evident in every case. She holds clients accountable for their actions, which is rare these days.
