I wish I could put a zero in the rating spot. A military mom comes back and asks dad to give the child back. Dad refuses for years. Mom did not want to go through trial.Mom files for custody. The grades of the child are horrible. Kid in horrible environment. Didn't let mom submit evidence. Keeps costudy with dad then finds mom of contempt of court due to a court order required for the military allotment. Mom had no idea the order would still exist or you can bet your last dollar she would of been to the courts sooner or paying what she knew she would have to pay. Dad had no idea of the order either. Dad and his lawyer lied in court about mom never buying the kid anything. It helped their case as they wanted. Mom is also in nursing school and doesnt work. Contempt? This judge has it out for women. Judge will not get away with it too much longer.

I have practiced in front of jusge Griffis since he was elected in civil criminal and family court. He is no nonsense which is offsetting to some. However, all of my clients get a fast fair and prompt hearing. He treats parties evenly in family cases and he puts the children first. He follows the law in civil cases and gets cases to trial. My one jury trial with him went smoothly as he required jury instructions to be completed early. We were done a day and a half early. I wish he was more personable. But he he is fair and predictable. Which helps with clients. Enjoy him.

During my long-litigated (not by me) Family Court case, I have been before SEVEN Alachua County Judges.

Griffis was horrible. Not only did he scream at & belittle me, but he consistently broke the law outright, over & over again.

I don't understand why Griffis has not been removed from the bench--he gets abominable ratings in every Judicial Poll.

His actions destroyed my life. (I am female, btw)

This is the most unprofessional judge you will ever practice before. He has an odd hatred of women, for whatever reason. He doesn't abide by the evidence code, je acts like it doesn't exist. He is super sarcastic, and has told me to "Shut up." The clients were so upset. Since the client was a man, he won, but was concerned for how he treated both female attorneys in the case. Not sure if that client did as he said- he told me he intended to write to Tallahassee about that judge. Today had Orlando and Tampa lawyers in on a motion. They were appalled. When is the 8th circuit going to get real and decide this guy is unsuited for being a judge? Let him go be an advocate, a position he obviously cannot leave behind. What a shame- the 8th circuit has some darned good judges. I have actually never had a trial with real witnesses in front of Griffis- he isists he doesn't need to hear from them. He has also announced which types of witnesses he won't hear from, ever. He has his own rules- don't ever list a psychologist as a witness, he won't hear from them- announces this before you even know if you have one or not in the case. This judge is rude, arrogant, demeaning, tells lawyers who are speaking softly to shut up, and who has zero respect for the public he is there to serve. I believe a referee in the WWE would do as better job. Judge Griffis- we all have a lot to do, kids, houses, mortgages, divorces. You are not the only one who has it hard! Get a life, and start acting like a judge people can respect. I am embarassed of you in front of clients, other counseol, and the public in general. It does nothing for the image of the legal profession, having you in it! - a disgusted and appalled lawyer.

this man is biased against women to the point he will side with the man even if it means ignoring evidence and refusing to speak to the 15 year old child in question

The worst judge I have ever seen in my many years as a trial lawyer.

This person allowed the most biased, improper procedures in his courtroom. He gave a professional guardian the 'green light' to torture and abuse her ward, and get paid for it.

In thirty years of practice one of two worst judges I have ever been before. The other was removed from the bench for pulling a gun on a party in chambers.
