I will try to be fair to judge Cueto as he is a very fair judge. He does his best to not be bias even when he knows who is on the side of the truth. In my case he gave me a chance and I have to thank him for it. I have seen the reviews here of all and you are probably right in your own way, but you need to understand one thing. A judge is not there to side with you even if you are on the side of the truth. You need to build your case in order for him to give it to you. He cannot side with you because you are pro se, instead he has to treat you as a lawyer to the same standard as the others. It is hard to get justice sometimes and you need a good lawyer to build your case. In litigation if you have a good lawyer, he will amend the petition or complaints several times before the end and he will issue subpoenas on discovery and work on your case to move the balance to your side. The judge is only there to see that everything is done according to the law. He cannot build your case because he will be your lawyer and not the judge. You need a good lawyer to properly validate your evidence with witnesses (experts who can be cross examined) and it is a work that needs to be done by the experts. I filed as pro se but failed by not properly validating my evidence to get it admitted. I hired a good attorney, and I gave him a plan to execute, and we took the other side out in about a month. I could not do it alone because we needed a subpoena and lawyers can do that without the judge. I believe a pro se can send a form to the judge to file a subpoena, but the other side will probably try to quash it. We were expecting for the other side to quash the intent of my lawyer to subpoena but they just stopped. Judge Cueto is a good judge. There is an app out there where you can learn all you want. It is called "just answer". Learn all you can and get a good lawyer and always follow on the dockets how your case is progressing and with your lawyer. Make sure you have a good lawyer that works for you because most times the lawyer is working for himself. Get on avvo.com and get the best lawyer by the ratings that you can see there and then be on top of him making sure he is doing good. Follow the dockets. If you have any questions shoot me an email.

Comments:
I didn't want to believe the negative comments, until I saw firsthand two days ago just how horrible Judge Jorge Cueto is. He is a "bully", he retaliate against litigants specially Pro Se who, despite demonstrating good faith, obstruct justice, to retaliate against a litigant or disfavored party. What's the purpose of even showing up in the Zoom meeting? In my case he was mean, rude and agitated toward me, he has done this to me (3) times. Then he reads the judgement from a paper that his little law clerks presumably drew up. He doesn't even look you in the eyes. And when you ask a simple question, it's like he doesn't even understand you or the case. Judge Cueto is a disgrace to the bench, a disgrace to the judicial system, and a disgrace to every American citizen. He must be fired immediately. Thankfully he recused frim my case

Brilliant person and dedicated to seeking the truth. Though his candor may get him into trouble, he is un-afraid to tell it like it is. He uses logic and common sense to make decisions. We need more judges like him.

If the rating permitted something worse I would have selected it. This man is a poor representative of the judiciary and the profession as a whole.

Comments:
I'm pretty sure he favors older attorneys or ones that are his friends, because I have had valid motions denied. Sometimes he even refuses to hear argument. He set a one case for trial within the 18 month suggested period, in which discovery had not even begun. Though required to set cases for trial, he has complete control over when and should have given due consideration to the status of discovery.

He was the first appearance judge when I was arrested for some clearly aberrant behavior after being drugged. He released me on my own recognizance and was courteous and caring, directed corrections to get me medical attention. Nevertheless, I understand that he has soured on the state of the local bar and their general incompetence or disregard, so he is generally in a foul mood all the time now. Sitting on the bench and seeing all the attorneys and the litigants lie must be really difficult, but that is job he ran for.

very unimpressed by his attitude. Wholesale lack of attention to motions before him. Even less attention to orders submitted that are rubber stamped by his office. Very dismissive of attempts to be heard.

This judge is a former cop and maybe he should be in a squad car busting heads instead of judging civil matters, he is biased and arbitrary and will rule against you even though the law is clearly on your side, and like a typical cop he is a despotic bully.
