Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comment #: FL690
Rating:9.1
Comments:
I have practiced criminal law on both sides of the fence before Judge Overstreet for a number of years. I have always found him to have respect for the law and respect for all of the participants in the process, from the lawyers to the clerks, witnesses, and defendants. I'd say he's a fair minded judge who appreciates effort and preparation. He will engage the lawyers during motion hearings, but is open to their arguments. He does his research and is a good legal scholar. He understands the evidence code, objections, and trial practice very well. So long as you remain professional, and are prepared, he has always been very pleasant to work with at all stages of the process.

Prosecutor

Comment #: FL653
Rating:3.1
Comments:
Exhibits a very immature, oversensitive and, at times, condescending attitude toward the attorneys. He appears egotistical and takes argument as a challenge to his authority. A recurring theme with his demeanor is losing his temper and acting like a bully toward the attorneys, on some occasions actually bending over the bench at sidebar and getting in their faces. Additionally, this judge's legal acumen is wanting. He frequently has problems understanding basic legal objections.
