Comments:
I have had the opportunity to sit through several of Judge Amero’s hearings in my capacity as a judicial watchdog. Some just as an observer and some after filing a motion to record (Rule 22), so this is my cumulative observation and not just that of a good or bad day. I also compare him to other Superior Court Judges in the State. He’s probably not the worst, but definitely in the bottom 20%.

Judge Amero has contempt for several classes of people and treats them horribly. Those classes of people are pro-se, black men (really men in general, but black men get far worse treatment), and those accused of a crime. I’ve watched him suppress valid evidence, conduct court in his chambers, keep a father from enrolling his daughter in school after the mother ran out on them, openly admit that his ruling was not in accordance with the law, but said if the litigant didn’t like it, they could hire an attorney to appeal it, impute income from a non-existent second job. I certainly wouldn’t want to appear before him, especially if I was a poor black man without an attorney.
