Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: IL148
Rating:7.6
Comments:
Judge Elsner's informal pre-trials can work in some situations and settling cases is his strength. Not the strongest legal scholar but he is decisive and moves cases on his docket.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: IL124
Rating:2.7
Comments:
Makes up his mind early seemingly based on personal feelings and then will not be swayed. Prepares written orders prior to meaningless oral arguments and does not seem to read and/or understand briefs adequately. Shocking that he was a finalist for Presiding Judge.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: IL83
Rating:9.5
Comments:
Judge Elsner handled a difficult case where there were numerous "hostage" third party defendants and worked very hard to try and settle the case when it was clear the primary parties were not working towards any end on their own. He reads everything submitted and gets very involved in the day-to-day aspects of the case. He is a wonderful credit to the bench.
