Civil Litigation - Private

Rating:1.5
Comments:
Judge is always angry. Scolding people like they are kids. He seems to not care about case facts and sides with the state. He forgets things and twists information that's right in front of him. You constantly have to repeat information to him. My opinion is he is not fit to be any type of judge. Certainly not a judge of human life outcome.

Comments:
My client was a minor and we wanted to file the case under an alias. Unfortunately the law had recently changed and that was no longer allowed by simply filing as such with the clerk. I stepped up in front of Judge Ortiz who was sitting as the emergency judge that day. I was not in a suit because I only expected to be at the clerk's office. He joked about that, and proceeded to help me draft a written motion and order right then, discussing the appropriate language, which I was not aware was required.

Arrogant and terse in open court. Does not have the temperament to effectively judge.
